Milwaukee to Be Host to 60th Annual
, A AU Tracks Field Championships

Milwaukee, will be host to the
sixtieth annual AAU. track and
field championships otv July 2
and 3.
The games, final prelude to the
American Olympic trials at Evan
ston, 111., on July 10, will be held
in the Marquette University sta
dium in Milwaukee. National
Championships, Inc., a Milwaukee
civic body, will sponsor the events
in conjunction with a local ob
servance of the centennial an
niversary of the state of Wiscon
sin. It will be the fourth time that
the national championships have
been held in Milwaukee and the
third time that they have been
staged in the spacious Marquette
University stadium. The first

UN Hospital Gets
Cancer .Award ;
The University hospital at
Omaha will receive a $5,600
award for a cancer control proj
ect, it was announced this week
This is a part of a total of
$162,073 allotted for seven states
and the District of Columbia.
The largest grant was $43,320 to
the California public helth de
partment for a test training ccn
ter.

Universiy Army, Air Force
ROTC Gets Superior Rating
Chancellor R. G. Gustavson
said Wednesday that the Univer
sity of Nebraska Army & Air
Force ROTC was one of 12 in the
nation to get a "superior" rating
in the federal inspection this year.
The information came from Lt.
Gen. Walton H. Walker, command
ing general of the Fifth army in
Chicago, who said Nebraska rated
superior in administration, train
ing and over-all rating. Twelve
other schools received the top rat
ing out of 140 senior ROTC units
in the country.
The federal inspection was held
on the campus May 11, 12 and 13.
The Army and Air Force units
are commanded by Col. Howard

perior or excellent ratings in-these

of the military department staff in
community and university affairs;
support of the ROTC program by
the chancellor and faculty, and
ROTC staffs support of the insti
tution; condition of government
property; condition of records; In
structional facilities; extra curri
rular nativities such as rifle team:
discipline and detailed components
of the teaching program.
