Five Scarlet
Cinder Men
To KU Relays
Coach Ed Wier has entered five
men in the 1948 Kansas relays in
Lawrence Friday and Saturday.
Jim McConnell left Thursday
for Lawrence and will compete
in the decathlon which starts Fri
day morning.
Al Thompson will carry the
Cornhusker colors in the 100-yard
dash. The Omaha athlete fin
ished third behind Texas' Char
lie Parker and Maurice Fuquay
of Oklahoma A. & M. in the
Texas relays two weeks ago.
Don Cooper, making his second
appearance since spraining an
ankle, will compete in his spe
cialty, the pole vault Dick Pi
derit is entered in the shot put,
and Russ Hale will run the 400
meter low hurdle race.
Frazier Moves
Up for Grid
Scrimmages
To bolster the positions on the
Blue squad, hit recently by a se
ries of minor injuries, Coach Pot
sy Clark has moved up Clayton
Frarier of Pawnee City for the
scrimmages planned Saturday
morning.
Members of the White squad
who reported all this week also
will be given a chance to get into
action in one of the two games.
The first contest will be at 10 a.m.
and the second at 11. The gates
will be locked for both games.
