Coslor Calls 'Playboy9 Role
Best of His Theater Career
VM fX'v;. ? .

By Frank Jacobs
When Rex Coslor states of a
University Theater role that, "It's
the best part I've ever had," audi
ences can be certain that he has
had many previous dramatic ex
periences on which to base his
statement.
He is referring, of course, to his
characterization of Christy, main
role in "Playboy of the Western
World," opening tomorrow night
in the Temple.
Coslor, a married arts and sci
ences senior from Sargent, is per
haps the most well-known and
hardest working university actor.
Awardjwinner of Best Contribu
tor to University Theater in 1946
and Best Male Actor in 1947, he
has appeared in nine major thea
ter productions, the latest being
as the cocky football star, Boze
Hertzlinger, in "The Petrified
Forest."
He has been used almost ex
tensively in dialectical roles. From
the humorous Greek, Apopolous,
in "My Sister Eileen," to the in
teresting German, Fokker, in "Re
turn to Surigao," his parts have
consisted of many foreign vari
ents. He portrays a youthful Irish
man in the forthcoming play.
When asked the character of
his role ot Christy, in "Playboy
of the Western World," Coslor
stated, "Christy is a very inter-

Open Letter of Thanks:
About 200 high school students
are going to remember the fun
they had at the Student Founda
tion party during the basketball
tournament when they make their
choice of a university. Such a
successful party would not have
been possible had .it not been for
the co-operation and hard work
of a great many people around
the University, and for their fine
assistance, the Student Founda
tion wishes to thank them.
To Duane Lake, Union Director,
goes our deepest appreciation for
his indulgence and co-operation.
To his staff, especially Dorothy
Brown, who tended music, and
G. C. "Mac" McKeen, who's a
grand guy, go special thanks.
To George "Potsy" Clark many
thanks for one of those inspira
tional talks for which he's fa
mous. And thanks to friend
George Round, Director of Public
Relations, for his advice and co
operation. Our appreciation to ;the many

We are realizing more and
more the importance of keeping

Not An Election
An election that is not an election is due today as stu
dents vote on acceptance or rejection of affiliation with the
National Student Association (NSA).
It is an election in the sense that ballots are available,
that the usual campus polling places will be in use, and
that the usual election officials will supervise the polls. But
it is not an election because the outcome of today's ballot
ing will not decide definitely whether the University of
Nebraska joins with the members of the NSA by ratifying
the NSA constitution.
The results of today's election will be used by the stu
dent council as a guide to future action.
Boosters of the NSA have been in action since the be
ginning of the school year. But only recently, with the time
for determining the university's status approaching, have
students begun a thorough examination of the constitution
and aims of the organization.
A number of valid objections have been raised. Chief
among these is the worth of the organization on the local
level, which in the final analysis should be the fundamental
reason for Nebraska's acceptance or rejection of the or
ganization. Events of recent weeks have indicated that a hasty
scanning of the constitution and aims of NSA results in a
favorable reaction. But just as conclusively, the events of -recent
weeks have shown that when the constitution and
aims are subjected to closer scrutiny, a less favorable re
action is usually the result, as witness the consensus of
c-pinion of those attending the NSA discussion at the li
brary auditorium.
Significant in the whirlwind of action which has swept
across the campus in recent weeks on the NSA question
are the resignations of two members (one a Nebraska stu
dent council member and the other a Mo-Kan-Neb regional
officer) from the district organization for the reason that
they had no wish to be personally connected with NSA.
Students with similar doubts as to any part of the NSA
constitution or the workability of its proposals have a
chance to register their opinion by a "no" vote today.
