SAE's Trounce Phi Psis,
39-20, to Cop IM Crown
Sigma Alpha Epsilon won the Interfraternity basket
ball championship Monday night by trouncing Phi Kappa
Psi, 39-20.
Don McArthur, Sig Alph center, dropped seven buckets
and three free throws to lead his team with 17 points. The
Sig Alphs used their fast break
to good advantage in defeating
the Phi Psis. Bill Wenke dropped
five points for, the victors, andd
Berquest, Swanson and Saladen
hit for four counters each.
Rooney Leads Phi Psfs.
Pat Rooney led the Phi Psis
In the scoring column with eight j
points. Bob Baum came through
with three fielders for six points,
and Schneider, Milliken and
Mickle dropped one two-pointer
each.
The Sig Alphs and Phi Psis
both represented League III in
the championship game. Each
team lost one game during the
season to earn their berths in the
play-offs. Sigma Phi Epsilon
handed the Sig Alphs their only
defeat in regular play, and the
Phi Psis lost their game to the
Sig Alphs by a two-point margin.
Sigma Alpha lEpsilon will meet
I. F. T. tonight for the all-univer-soity
championship.
Phi Delta Theta copped the B
team crown by downing the Beta
Sigma Phi quintet, 19-14. Chapin
led the Phi Delts in scoring with
five counuters. Heckenlively fin
ished second with four points, "and
Duryea, Meimer, Stewart, Henkle
and McDermott hit for two points
apiece. The Phi Delt B qufntet
limited the Beta Sigma Psi team to
three field goals during the game.
Bauer and Wolfert led the loosers
with four points each.

GymnasticTitle
4 Nebraska's gymnastic squad
finished its season Saturday by
taking first place honors in the
All College Open Championships
at Boulder, Colorado..
The Husker gymnasts finished
with a total of 37 points, which
was five points better than second
place Colorado, Colorado State was
third with 18 points. The victory
gave Nebraska a season's record
of four wins, four losses and the
All College Championships.
Two dual meets were figured in
the meet. Nebraska met both Mon
tana State and Colorado State.
The Nebraska gymnasts came out
on top in both contests, winning
by scores of 67 to 36 and 732 to
50', respectively.
Sprague, Geier Lead.
Phil Sprague and Leo Geier of
Nebraska topped th.e high all
around points department.
Sprague was first with 17 points
and Geier was second with 10.
Sprague took one first and two
seconds while Geier copped one
third and two fourths. Ken Har
ding of Nebraska took third place
in the side norse ana wiarence
Lefler, also of Nebraska, took a
third in the horizontal bars.
In a dual meet Friday night,
the Huskers defeated a strong
Colorado University squad by a
score of 70 to 62. The team was

Oklahoma university won the
Big Seven wrestling champion
ship Saturday at Boulder by tak
ing three individual titles and
compiling a total of 35 points.
Nebraska placed second with 30
points and last years defending
champion, Iowa State placed third
with 8 points.
Mike DiBiase, defending heavy
weight champion, succeeded in
holding his crown by throwing
Leonard of Iowa State in 5 min
utes of the finals. Nebraska's
other winner was Robert Yam
bor in the 121-pound division.
Yambor decisioned Eugene Ewold
son of Iowa State, 8-4. Mickie
Sparano, Husker 128-pounder,
earned his way to the finals but
was pinned by Oklahoma's Or
ville Wise.
Jack Tamai, "Newton Copple,
Ed Copple and Andie Marinko
vich received third places for
Nebraska. Jerry Calhoun handi
capped from a previous mat in
jury, placed fourth.

Potsy Clark
New Director
Of Athletics
Potsy Clark, who has just ar
rived at the university to take
over the duties of head football
coach, received another burden
Monday night with the an
nouncement of his appointment
as interim athletic director.
Thy action was initiated by
the Athletic Board and ap
proved by the Board of Regents.
Clark announced Monday that
spring football practice, which
will inaugurate his second sear
son at the helm here, will be
postponed until next Monday.
As athletic director, Clark will
succeed A. J. Lewandowski, who
resigned from that position after
the last gridiron campaign to
devote full time to his job as
athletic business manager.
Vespers will meet at 5 p. m. to
day, at the University Episcopal
Church.
NU Rifle Team
Captures First
At Booneville
Sgt. John Lovold's Nebraska
University rifle team captured the
senior championships of the in
door Camp Pery rifle matches in
Booneville, Missouri, last week.
The Nebraska rifle experts hit
720 of a possible 800 to win the
meet. Iowa State scored 705 for
second place.
Fourteen college teams compet
ed. Herb Miller, former Omaha
Central sharpshooter, topped the
Husker team with 185. Other Ne
braska marksmen were: William
Brandt, Unadilla, Nebraska, 181;
Walter Palmer. Westfield, N.J
178; and Gerald Roesler, Tobias,
Nebraska, 176.
Kemper Military Academy of
Booneville finished third with 676,
and Creighton was fourth with
668.
Natrona High School of Caspev,
Wyo., took first in the high school
division with 749, and Omaha
Benson finished second with a 725
total.
