Familiar Rhodes
Name Bask at NU
A name familiar to University
of Nebraska sports followers in
1923-'24-'25 may reappear this
year.
It is John Rhodes.
John is the son of Choppy
Rhodes, all around Cornhusker
athlete of two decades ago.
Young John has shown a smooth
hurdling style that may bring him
some of the fame his dad enjoyed
as- an undergraduate. John has
been handicapped by an infection
since his discharge from the army.
Nebraska's Bobby Yambor, un
defeated in three straight matches
this year, put the Huskers into
a brief lead by decisioning Harold
Mott of Iowa STC. Yambor won
by a 3-2 count. Mott is Iowa's
AAU grappling champion.
Marinkovich Draws.
That was the end of Nebraska's
winning ways. But Andy Marin
kovich did salvage two points for
Patterson's charges by battling
Ed Ahrcns, ISTC, to a draw in
a 175-pound match.
Dick Hill, Jack Tamai and
Jerry Calhoun of Nebraska fell
victims to pin holds by invading
Cedar Falls wrestlers. Hill and
Tamai were stopped by a l a'f
nelson hold in 1:45 and 7:50 re
spectively. Calhoun ,was pir.npd
with a body smother in 3:50.
Nebraska forfeited its heavy
weight match to the visitors. Rex
Hoy, Huskers' heavyweight grap
pler, reported ill and was ordered
not to compete in Tuesday's
match by the team physician.
Third NU Loss.
The loss was the third in four
matches for Nebraska's inex
perienced crew. Nebraska fell to
the AAU and NCAA champions
from Cornell college, la., 28-0 in
the season opener, tripped Colo
rado university 19-10 and fell to
Colorado College 20-6 before
