-1 Thursday, January 15, 1948 ..r - TUP HATTY TvTFRR ASKAM KAIjE. 3 iwj- - - Crossfire By Horm Leger Just who does Phaedrus (of NUMBER 1, 2 and 3 notoriety) ' think he's kidding? The "com mon" students, whom he so con descendingly addresses? Anyone with most casual interest in cam pus affairs should be able to put two and two together and get the name of the man who so cowardly hides behind the im pressive socratic title. A person, like Phaedrus, who is so talented at making serious accusations on unproven grounds, in name-calling, and in illogical writing really shouldn't remain ' in the dark realm of anonymity. In fact, if Mr. Phaedrus doesn't withdraw some time today from the Student Council NSA commit mittee, a could-be worthy organi zation which will soon be abol ished unless the sophism of Phae drus a member, of course is eliminated, we will gladly print in Sunday's column, not the name of the columnist, but enough per tinent facts which should leave no dcubts in anyone's mind. We will do this because we believe that any student who will resort to the low means of attacking individu als and organizations without making his name known, making implications which can't be proved and purposely striving to defeat an organization by insidious means has no place in an organization set up to study objectively the National Student Association, to function as the NSA would were it ratified, and to decide whether U. N. should not affiliate or whether it should be put up to a student body or Council vote. Phaedrus, I'm afraid you've had it, and in the end you'll see that you've blackened not only your own name but those of the per sons who apparently were co operative enough to see to it that you had your say in Daily Ne " braska print. K. Crowe, university dairy research scien tist. Because of the "substantial" loss to Nebraska farmers and cream eries, the program was undertaken to discover: how sediment gets into churning cream; methods of detecting it; types of particles which make up sediment; and ways to eliminate it. A $9,000 gift from the Sugar Creek Creamery Co., of Danville, 111., and its subsidiary, the Hard ing Cream Co., oif Omaha, is fi nancing the project. L. P. McCoun, manager of the Omaha firm is ac tively co-operating in the plan. The funds were made available to the dairy department thru the University of Nebraska Founda tion. Tlr frnwp said that farmers an- nnallv lose thousands of dollars because cream containing exces sive sediment is rejected by creameries. Processors also lose by purchasing cream which is later found to have excessive seaimem. Poor quality churning cream and nnnre-r rmalitv butter and thus. lower reurns to the butterfat pro ducer, also occur irom tne pres ence of sediment. "4 . ,",VVSS01. j t yeI guess it began when I wa9 just a kid making non-stop flights around the dining-? room table. Later on, the town got an air port. I got to know every plane, right down to the smallest bolts and screws. "During the war I took off with the Aviation Cadets. The folks were all for it. They figured correctly that it was the best way to get me into the air where I belonged. T made it all right. Trained in the best planes the Air Force has, and now I'm heading for transition work in jets. The pay? Now that I'm a pilot, $336 a month, plus $500 for each year of active duty. And there's plenty of room for promotions. "But that's not the real point. Some men belong in the air. They were born wanting wings with the action, the pride, the free dom that go with them. There's no better way to have all that, along with the world's finest flying training, than to join the Avia tion'Cadets. And the future in civilian aviation or in the Air Force is as wide open as the horizon. If you want the fast-moving life, why not drop around to the Recruiting Station in your community or the nearest Air Force installation. U. S. Army and U. S.
