Production
Tryouts
Scheduled
Tryouts for an Experimental
Theatre production "Return to
Surigao," will be held today in
Room 201 Temple, from 2 to
3:30 p. m.
A full-length drama, the play
is written by Clarence Flick,
speech department instructor. The
plot is built around an idea he
got while stationed in the Philip
pine islands during the war,
from April to November of 1945
Philippines
Set in a fishing village in the
scuthern most island of the Phil
ippine group, the plot tells the
story of an American citizen re
siding in the islands who re
ceives an army commission after
his participation in guerilla war
fare against the Japanese. Dur
ing his stay in the islands he
shares his household with a
Philippino girl.
Alter an extended period in
the United States, he returns to
the islands with his American
bride t olearn that his Philippine
companion has born him a son.
The remainder of the play deals
with his struggle to decide which
of the women he loves most. His
decision forms a surprise ending
that Flick did not disclose.
Flick began work on the play
three years ago, finishing it only

Ag Union
Activities
The Activities Committee of the
Ag Union Board has issued a call
for students to serve as chairmen
and workers on the newly organ
ized worker system.
Interested students are asked to
register for their respective groups
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
of this week. Registration will be
conducted from a booth in the Ag
Union and the chairmen and com
mittee workers will be chosen by
the Activities committee from the
registrants. In the spring the new
board members will be chosen by
the workers on the basis of ability,
leadership, and total amount of
work.
Applicants must be willing to
put in at least three hours of work
per week on their chosen commit
tee. Present board members and
their committees are: Harriet Mo
line, convocations and competitive
games; Virgene Kovarik, music
activities and dances; Neil Miller,
hobby interest and general en
tertainment; and Lucille Manning,
house rules, library, hospitality
and publicity.

YWCA Group
To Meet Friday
THE YMCA Co-wed Club for
university student married couples
will meet at the YM Lounge in
the Temple Friday at 7:30 for a
hay-rack ride and weiner roast.
Organized last year by YM Ex
ecutive Director Gordon Lippitt,
the group sponsored picnics every
other week during the summer
and has plans for a variety of
parties this year. They will in
clude among others a Christmas
party, a box social in March aid
roller skating in April. There are
now 6! members on the Co-wed;
Club role.
Any couple, of which either
husband or wife is a UN student,
is eligible for membership.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Munson and
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Barker are
in charge of Friday's party.
