Coach Bernie Masterffon named a 38-player squad to make the jaunt to the home of the nation's No. 2 gridiron machine. The tra veling squad will leave Thursday night at 7:30 following a final workout on the local practice con fines Thursday afternoon. Wednesday's light but lengthy drills consisted chiefly of defen sive work against Notre Dame formations and a brush up on the Husker passing attack. Nubbins Furnish Offense Ray DeBolt's Nubbins reported on the hill to run the Notre Dame "T" against the varsity defenders. Masterson juggled his varsity combinations somewhat through the evening's session while whip ping the Scarlet through an earn est play review session. Spirit was high in the Husker camp as they moved through the final prepping stages for the test against Coach Frank Leahy's highly rated Fighting Irish. With the services of two ail American performers in the per sons of Johnny Lujack, "T" quar terback deluxe, and Tackle George Connor, Irish captain, Notre Dame has been rated a 39 point pre game favorite. Performance Leahy's Irish will be out to re gain its perch atop the nation's grid leaders while Masterson's Huskers will be out to atone for a feeble performance last week against a keyed Iowa State eleven. Sharp Paces Delts to 20-0 IM Grid Win One-sided victories featured the IM football tilts at the Coli seum grounds Wednesday eve ning. Delta Tau Delta, sparked by the passing of Jim Sharp, romped to a 20-0 win over Phi Delta Theta. Sharp was the whole show as he pitched two aerials to Breetzke for tallies and one to Van Nor man for the final TD. He hit Stroh and Wiemer for the extra points. All three scores came in the wild first half. Alpha Tau Omega breezed by Zeta Beta Tau, 26-0. Don Gallop's passing figured in all the scoring as he combined with Bick for two TD's and flipped to Locke for another. Ross and Locke grabbed two Gallop pitches for the extra points and a Bick-to-Harman pass completed the ATO's scoring. SAE In 30-0 Rout. Sigma Alpha Epsilon completed the day's heavy scoring by plas tering the , Sigma Alpha Mu ag gregation, 30-0. Dick Saladen sparked the winner's attack, hurl ing touchdown passes to Swanson and McArthur twice each. A Carl Dilldine-to-Nordeen aerial was Partington, Bob Riedy, Darwin Salestrom, Dick Thompson, Del Wiegand and Phil Young, backs. Coach Pop Klein in whittling the Frosh roster down to a work able unit has uncovered a pair of promising backs in the per sons of Harold Wolf, Pender, and Don Schneider, Norton, Kas. Although he has not named definite units as yet, Klein has had two prospective back field lineups working against the var sity and against Ray DeBolt's Nubbins. Frank Meyer, Lincoln, has been quarterbacking a first team unit with Gerald Ferguson, Scottsbluff, and Kirk Lee. Fre mont at the halfbacks and Walt Spellman, Creighton Pip, at full back. Gene Kirkendall, Lincoln, at quarterback, Don Bloom, Los Angeles, and Wolf at the halves and Schneider at fullback, com prise a second backfield quartet. The outstanding line play of Ralph Weddle, All-State end from Nebraska City, and Laverne Busch of Boy Town has been pleasing to Klein. SAM Advances In Table Tennis In the first round of the intra mural table tennis tournament on Tuesday, Sigma Alpha Mu turned back Delta Tau Delta. 4-1.
