Time again for a bit of prog
nostication. Nebraska vs. Kansas Despite
the talk of wise boys that the Jay
hawks are favored, I'll stick with
W the steadily improving Huskers.
For the first time this season Ne
braska will be on the top side as
far as weights are concerned.
Injuries to the KU backfield
stars may clear up by game'ume,
but regardless of their condition
I like the scrappy Nebraska line
and believe that they will halt
the galloping Kansans.
Kansas State vs. Oklahoma.
The Sooners should have a field
day against the puny Wildcats
who have scored one touchdown
in three games. After Army and
Texas, the K Staters will be a
soft touch for Oklahoma.
Missouri vs. Iowa State Coach
Don Faurot's charges should main
tain their undefeated status in the
Big Six against the Cyclones who
have been unable to uncover a
f, consistent offensive combination.
Indiana vs. Iowa The Hoosiers
are rolling on the comeback trail
after two early defeats and should
sweep aside a good Iowa team
that will be fighting all the way
against the passes of Ben Rai
mondi and running of Pete Pihos.
Wisconsin "vs. Illinois Protests
from the student body about the
coaching situation at Champaign
will not help Iflini spirit, and the
tough Wisconsin line will not help
the Illini ball carriers. The Badg
ers in a cldse one.
Michigan vs. Northwestern Re
serve strength should be the dif
ference belUveen these two. The
winner is tabbed as the probable
Big Nine ruler. A nod to Michi
gan. 1 1 '
Ohio State vs. Purdue Two
disappointing elevens come ' to
grips at Columbus. The Buckeyes
have shown flashes of power
while Purdue has shown nothing.
Paul Bixler's crew should rise a
notch in loop standings.
Minnesota vs. Wyoming: The
Cowboys can't beat teams in the
Rocky Mountain area. They
shoulda stayed in Laramie.
Army vs. Columbia Lou Lit
tle's Lions have come through
with upsets two weeks in a row.
They would hit the jackpot with a
win over Army, but until proved
otherwise I think Davis, Blanch
ard and company should continue
unbeaten.
Navy vs. North Carolina. This
seems to be the spot where the
Middies can get back into the win
column.
Arkansas vs. Texas Dana
( Bible's supercharged Longhorns
venture into Southwestern league
competition for the first time
against the Razorbacks who are
. 4 no pushover. However they
haven't shown enough to rate the
edge over Texas.
Alabama vs. Tennessee One of
the top games of the day, a Bowl
bid should be forthcoming to the
winner. Alabama was good last
year and I like them over the Vols
Saturday.
Penn vs. Virginia A breather
for the potent Quakers who are
one of the strongest teams in the
East. They'll be locking to that
Navy contest a week hence.
Yale vs. Cornell Two of the
best in the Ivy League get to
. gether for a renewal of a long-
standing rivalry. The Bulldogs
will be out to redeem themselves
Football Cancelled

after losing to Columbia last week
in the last quarter.
UCLA vs. California There's
no stopping the Unlans who seem
to be Rose Bowl bound. The
Berkley Bears scored their first
win last week in a surprise over
St. Mary's but this week it's a dif
ferent story.

"IELIEVE me, fitting all the new dial and manual switch
lj board equipment and long distance facilities into Bell
System central offices all around the country is keeping me
mighty busy!
"In a single big dial exchange there may be 4,000 miles
of wire. I may have to solder 2,500,000 connections
before everything's ready for you to dial a number.
"Besides installing this complex apparatus, I build it.
That's part of my job as manufacturer for the Bell System.
"I also purchase all manner of things for the Bell Tele
phone Companies . . . and distribute these supplies to them
along with the equipment I make.
"Ever since 1882, I've been helping to make our nation's
telephone service the best in the world. Today . . . with
the Bell System's construction program of more than
$2,000,000,000 in full swing ... I'm busier than ever.
"Remember my name . . . it's Western Electric."
