One of the Colorado entrants looked down the track from behind his starting blocks, pulled off his sweat suit and discovered that he had no running trunks beneath his sweat pants. He immediately pulled on his sweat suit and dispatched his teammate,' who was also entered in the event, to obtain the necessary apparel. The seeker returned suc cessfully and the race went on as scheduled. Incidentally, the Ne braska hurdlers, Norval Barker and Ralph King:, finished one-two in the event. The Colorado broad jumper, Jack McEwen, who won the first event with a leap of 22 feet 4 in., was competing in his second meet of the season. He joined the squad two weeks ago, won first place in the Colorado Relays last Saturday and then added first place in Wed nesday's dual meet to maintain an all-victorious record. Husker Coach Ed Weir had more Scarlet Track Squad To Face Tigers May 4 The Nebraska track and field team will make its last appear ance of the season before the Big Six championships when the Scarlet-clad athletes face the Uni versity of Missouri in a dual meet at Columbia Saturday. Grote Remains Behind. v Coach Ed Weir will probably send the Huskers into action in the same events in hich they competed in Wednesday's dual meet with Colorado, but will leave Herb Grote and Don Hansen at home. Grote is nursing a pulled arm muscle which hampered his jave lin tossing Wednesday when he was forced to take third place with a toss of 163 feet, and Han sen is kept idle by scholastic du ties. Another pole vault battle Is in prospect, for the Titers boast Dick Higfffins, who was second in the Big: Six indoor meet, against Ne braska's Dick Miller who took the championship In the indoor meet The Tigers have a strong squad of sprinters, including Bob Crow son, who has been near the front in every dash he has entered this year; plus high jumper L. D. Howe who has a leap of 6 feet 5 inches to his credit. This jump came last year when he was com peting as a member of the Colum bia Midshipmen. Once again Nebraska will rely on strength in the 880, mile and two mile, and Weir has declared that he may give Blaine "Okie" Young a shot at the mile distance Saturday. The midget speedster showed plenty of endurance, and amazed the spec tators by pulling up after 220 yard sprints with no ill effects. Nebraska's mentor had more ex citement during the afternoon, for an errant javelin scattered the crowd near the pole vault pit, and came to earth not more than an arm's length from where Weir had been standing. UN Baseball Nine To Face Mizzou Today With half the season gone, the University of Nebraska baseball team will be bidding to bring its won-lost percentage up to the .500 mark this weekend, for the Huskers will invade Columbia for a two-game series with the Mis souri Tigers. Coach Frank Smagacz has named a 15 man squad for the jaunt, the next to last road trip of the year for the Scarlet base ball players.
