Friday, April 19, 1946 THE NEBRASKAN Page 5 By GRACIE SMITH and BARBARA TURK With everyone going home for a nice quiet Easter and leaving our dear old campus rather alone, there really isn't much to do ex cept to bring what we can from out of the dark and hidden . . . There are, however, a few of the old standbys who will be fur nishing loads of fun and enter tainment for those who remain behind. The A. T. O. pledges have planned a party for their be loved actives on Saturday night. and from all appearances it will be quite the affair. Some of the couples who will brave the "soiree" are George Anderson with Nancy Lawlor; Bob Richards with Ruth Moll; and Ray Spear With Enid Kelso. Another promising event is the Sigma Nu formal which will be held at the Lincoln hotel on Sat urday night. Martha Aitkin will appear with Ivan Hascek while Gene Maburn will be with Mary Ann Korb . . . quite the steady deal as of late? A Changed Man. Chuck Mulvany has decided to become a hermit because of his so revealing publicity last Sat urday, and when we asked him for news, he remained strangely silent. Brother Max Johns, dis agrees with Chuck's new theory and he has been seen quite stead ily with cute Jo Truhlsen. We all agree that this is a good deal for both. Max and Jo, that is . Back again for a second try this time hoping for a real dati is Dean York from Lawrence, Kansas, who will be in Lincoln this weekend for a long awaited date with Helen Hummel . . . We have drawn the conclusion that Dean's motto must be "if at first you don't succeed try, try again." Rumors have it that Dale Hatch and Gayle Lebsack will migrate to Omaha on Saturday night for a big celebration with Mimi Loomis and Barb Dunn. Looks like fun is in store for all. Variety Is in Store. Marilyn Duffack plans to re main in Lincoln over Easter, and it is very evident that her rea sons are good. Friday night will find her with Gene Dilldine: Sat urday night with Dick Fuller; and Sunday night with Lynn O'Dell. Things just don't happen like this, and with such handsome material who blames her? Friday night includes dates of important variety, and some of them are truly "good deals." Jo Srb with Dick Kuhl; and Barb Mayer with Dale Applegate will remain in Lincoln while Chick Zimmerman with Jean Anderson and Ken Daman with Babs Sten- ger will hit the trail for Kearney for a good time. EASTER SPECIAL SUNDAY, APRIL 21ST hi r CHUCK HALL and His Band Direct from 1946 Engagements at the alnbow Ballroom, Denver Blue Moon Ballroom, Wichita, Pla-Mor Ballroom, Kansas Cltr Indiana Boof Ballroom, Indianapolis Gillan Clears Political Situation With Analysis BY BOB GILLAN. We have been asked by the authorities in charge of the Daily Nebraskan to write a brief article for the faction page of the paper. This surprised us no end, for we had gained the impression that this paper was opposed to most political parties. We are glad to have this opportunity to explain the tangled campus political scene, scene. To grasp the fundamental is sues involved in next week's elec tion it is necessary to differen tiate the three (at least there were only three the last time we talked to Les Glofelty) politi cal parties and the basic prin ciples for which they stand. The Student Party for Democratic Government (or as it is com monly known, the Student Party, or even just Bill Miller's party) is the party of clean and democratic policies. The Union Independent Party Nog Chapin's party up holds clean politics and democ racy, while the University Party (we are not quite sure whose party this is) supports democratic politics and cleanness. With such a clear-cut difference between parties it would be a dull tool who couldn't make up his mind quickly which party to support: History. Now for a brief history of the situation. The University Party for democratic independ I mean the Student Party for unified uni- mwmmmmmmmmmrnmummuaa MlMlinilllMbiliRO Our Fortieth Tear! I - ' J - ' -J ver Miller's party, that is, was founded by a group of far-sighted and a few near-sighted stu dents to provide a free bus-line to the ag campus. They seemed to be the only ones around who gave a darn so several Student Council posts were shoved off on them. Then they became so in volved in veterans and chancellors that they forgot what they were founded for, so ag students still shake loose from a nickle every time they want to go out and see the cows. (I want it clearly understood that this is not a re flection on the College of Agri culture, their students, or any part thereof.) Union. Then came the student Union I mesn the Union Independent party. This party was formed by a few people who were left over from the Progressive Party, the Cornhusker party, and a fresh man reception. They decided that it was much more democratic to have two people bossing people around, so they elected Bill Miller president no, that doesn't look right, Bill Miller is president of the YMCA it was Don Chapin (not to be confused with Nog Chapin, the Sigma Nu) who was elected president of the Union Party. A Johnny-come-lately on the political scene is John Lately, head of the University Party. The University Party is the brain iiijhm child of Margie Neumann and a few friends who were unhappy with people, and so they decided to start a new party to ' show them. There you are, kiddies. Now you know all about it, and you can go and vote for your room mate's boy friend's fraternity brother just like you planned all the time. Parade . . . (Continued from Page 4) pumps, and carry a corde bag. Keeping in step, Genene Mitchell will attract eyes in her fashion able museum print with a dis tinctive drape at the hip, and a unique drape effect at the neck line and sports a mandarin collar, with white pique bows and an open crown will give the en semble a perky look. Chic Chicks. Pepi Votava appears very chic in her "brown pinstriped dress maker suit. She wears a natural straw sailor with brown streamers and brown accessories. A white wool coat will be the center of attraction- when Sally Stuht steps out. The coat is cut on the box line and sports a mardarin collar. Her California model, gold crepe dress and brown leather shoes and purse will make people note that spring is really here. Stepping out with her Saturday night date, Gayle Lebsock, Bobbie Dunn will stop the parade in her moss colored, three-piece suit. The suit features a cardigan neck and a straight skirt which is quite in style this season. Her box coat and brown pumps to complete the Competent Little Suit for the Woman of Average Height! Myron Levenson, former radio student returned from service, will be the soldier. "The Terrible Meek," which was adapted for radio production by Paul Bogen, radio director, will be broadcast over a network of 11 stations. Marian Greenwood will be student director for the broadcast. outfit will make Gayle smile with pride. To complement her pretty com plexion, Patty Jensen will look like a true Easter model in a pink wool dress with Irish lace from the shoulder to the hemline on her left side. Black leather pumps and a black leather bag will add the needed contrast to the cos tume. Her black Easter bonnet displays clusters of pink posies on either side. Another girl who will wear THE suit is Mary Frazee. The unusual color of Robin Hood green and the accents of brown in her shoes, purse and hat will make the public take note. Suits, print dresses and frivolous hats seem to be in the spotlight this Easter, and the females on the campus are keeping up with the current fashion trends, natch!
