Page 4 THE MEBRASKAN Tues'day, 'April 16, 1945 .1 By Stanley and Dr. Livingston. With the end getting nearer and nearer; the weather getting warmer and warmer; and girls apparel getting skimpier and skimpier, we continue in the rut already started by the society edi tor. Big news of the weekend was several so-called "surprise" pin nings A surprise was the an nouncement Sunday by Thetas Jane Condon and Sally Shirley of their pinnings to Betas Dic'r Klopp and Jack Buffington re cently. Understand it was one of the better kept secrets of the campus. Congratulations to all concerned. Another not so big surprise was Lila Latham s ac ceptance of "Doc" Atkinson's Beta pin to hang by her Alpha Chi pin. Glad to see this! Morris Gaiter devoted his time this weekend to "Hink" Aasen Saturday night and Tat Winter Sunday. Congrats are in order for Hink on being Nebraska Sweet heart. Tikinif. Saturday night at the Pike found Max Christenson and Marge Alexis; Clete Fischer and June Reko; Lorene Novotny escorted by Larry Gilling; and Shirley Peter son with Pat Maas. Also seen dancing were Bob Ketterer and Georgeanne Wythers! What does York hold in store for a group of Thetas every week end? Namely Donna Leigh Brugh and Chans Wells. A foursome at Robbers Cave Saturday night was Bill Sloan and Barbie Wentz and Ted Randolph and Nancy Pierson. Sunday night found such couples as Mary Esther Dunkin and "Turk" Tangeman; Chuck Mulvaney and Jo Guenzel: and Jody Harrison with Charlie Humpal. Amnesia or What? Why can't Nancy Mines go to sleep at nights? Could it be be cause someone of the opposite sex calls her up and talks about egg sandwiches with lots of "Bacon?" Incidentally, bridge isn't so hard to play, Nancy! Picnicking Saturday night were Bill Rolfsmeyer (of mathematics fame) with Ruth Moll. (Guess all figures aren't the same, eh, Bill?) What two Thetas sported what two Beta pins from what two boys at 9:03 Sunday evening? Mystery is still unsolved. Where are miss ing pins? We end this column with a little poem, same being: Oh, that hand I held last night, Oh, what a dainty thing. Oh, here's to that hand I held last night, Four Aces and a King. lFor lovely nails you must have perfect cuticle. O STREETS Ash Can (Continued from page 2.) sweet title "Glad Rag." One story, in particular, interested her a great deal. It concerned a third party, which, judging from the information contained in the ar ticle, had been formed to give expression to the pent-up envy of those students who had never been pushed into a corner by Bill Miller, or treated to a brimming glass by John B. (for beartrap) Cook. She felt so lonely, since the third party had not as yet approached her with any sort of proposition, even a magazine sub scription, that she determined to rush right over to "Mable's Stables," where she occupied a hard pallet on the sixteenth floor and we do mean floor and put on her equestrian attire. Surely, in a pair of riding breeches, es pecially if she hummed "Roaming in Wyoming," Lcs Glotfelty would notice her. Let that be a lesson to you, all you upperclassmen who were eager child en when you arrived in the big city of Lincoln. If you want to be a Mortar Board, Inno cent, Student Council member, AWS board member or secretary of the council for underprivileged teachers, you better stay away from that evil Student Union. Rumor has it they not only serve coffee there, but they even offer you water with which to dilute it. If you want to sign the pledge, stop down in the Awgwan office. Just ask for Shestak.
