Freshmen, navy trainees sta tioned at the university, and. a few returned servicemen, will supplement the proven perform ers. Four indoor meets have been scheduled for the Nebraska squad in addition to the Big Six cham pionships which will be held in Kansas City on March 2. All of the meets are to be on the Husker track, and four Big Six teams will come to Lincoln for Saturday competition throughout the months of February. Sooncrs First. Oklahoma will be the Huskers' first foe, as the Sooners will ap pear on Feb. 2. Missouri, Iowa State and Kansas will also make appearances later in the month. Dean Kratz, Dick Miller, Nor val Barker, and Al Brown are the mainstnys for this season's team, the first two men placing in the NCAA championships last summer. Kratz, the jack-of-all-trades on the Nebraska squad, is able to compete in almost any event on the track, and has been working: out in his high school specialty, the low hurdles. At present the Sidney trackster is the conference indoor 880 and 440 king, and on the outdoor track he rules the 880 and mile divisions. Last year the Nebraskans ac counted for six first places in the conference championships, and winners of five of those events are back. Lack of third, fourth and fifth place points kept the team out of the championship spot, and in order to halt repeti tion of this situation, Coach Weir has issued a call to all students to come out for places on the team. Dick Miller, indoor and outdoor pole vaulter, is in fine form this season, for he cleared 13 feet the first time he vaulted for height. He is also working at the high jump pit. Norval Barker has ruled the in door and outdoor high and low hurdle races i-.r: the past season, and is aiming to repeat his wins in the present season. The fourth veteran trackster is Al Brown, a returned GI, who was a former middle distance .ace, and is again working in these events. Freshman Crop. A promising freshman turnout has produced Fritz Ware, high school broad jump and sprint star at Omaha Benson, who is getting ready for the 60 yard dash and the broad jump: Ted Randolph, of Ord, who has been hampered by an infected foot, but has shown real potentialities in the hurdles, sprints and high jump; and Don Yocum of North Platte, a member of Nebraska's championship two- "4 - ..
