R. H. Davis
Wins Turkey
Race Honors
Braving frigid winds and a low
temperature, R. H. Davis of Mil
waukee, Wis., representing the
Navy Flyers, won the first all
university turkey race by leading
a pack of 170 runners to the tape
yerterday over a -mile course.
By virtue of his feat, Davis re
ceived a live turkey as first prize
and also aided his organization,
the Flyers, to take first place in
team competition.
Bill Moorhouse of Chicago, rep
resenting Phi Gamma Delta, was
the second man to finish, while
Ray Wilkins, Glencoe, Minn., and
Navy Flyers, was third; Cecil Ja
cobsen of Albion, Neb., and Corn
husker Co-op, was fifth. Sixth
went to Bob Pfeiler of Lincoln,
running as an independent.
The second man won a goose,
third a duck, and fourth, fifth
and sixth places received chick
ens. These prizes were presented
by Jo Gish, president of WAA.
Following behind the Flyers in
team standings were Phi Gamma
Delta and Pioneer Co-op tied for
second; Cornhusker Co-op, fourth;
Navy Gismos, fifth; Independents,
sixth; Beta Sigma Psi, seventh;
Phi Kappa Psi, eighth, and Alpha
Tau Omega, ninth. -
Husker Track Mentor Ed Weir
started the race in front of the
coliseum, and the contestants fol
lowed Husker trackman Dick
Miller for the first part of the
course, and Al Brown, also a
trackster, took over for the final
part of the grind.
The last man to cross the finish
line was Theron Dillon of Phi
Gamma Delta, who finished a
good 15 minutes after the winner
broke the tape.
The first 18 finishers figured in
team scoring. They were:

room at 5:00 on Monday, No
vember 26. This is an im
portant meeting and everyone

The Nebraska State Capitol is
the only building in the entire

Trophy Race
By virtue of two champion
ships and a second place tie, Beta
Theta Pi leads all organizations
in the Jack Best supremacy race
at "the conclusion of the year's
first four events.
Slight Edge
Victorious in tennis and the
free throw tourney and second in
football, the Betas have a five
point edge over Phi Delta Theta.
The Phi Delts won runnerup hon
ors in golf and tied the Betas for
the same position in football.
These standings do not include
turkey race points.

Students Attend
Mixed Swim
Hour Nov. 27
All university students are in
vited to attend the first mixed
swim hour of the year to be held
Tuesday evening, November 27,
from 7:45 to 9:00 in the coliseum
pool.
Locker room facilities will be
available for both the men and
women though participants in the
fun must furnish their own swim
suits.
The festival, sponsored by the
men's and women's physical edu
cation departments, will be a
monthly feature of the intramural
program throughout the winter.
Nubbins . . .

12 to 7 defeat.
Using comparative scores, the
Nubbins seem to have an edge in
strength, for Nebraska Wesleyan
defeated Morningside, 21 to 0, the
Nubbins have beaten Wesleyan
twice and Morningside tied Wayne.
After the game the chamber of
commerce will entertain both
squads at a banquet.
