Tossing the pigskin into a corner for the moment, let's take a look into the future of Big Six swimming, especially in regard to our Husker mermen. Iowa State and Nebraska, per ennial champs of the aquatic sport before the war caused a temporary halt, are in favor of resuming Big Six competition when the winter season rolls around. Word from Norman in dicates that the Sooners may be ready with an outfit, while plans for a team at Missouri are still tentative. Kansas and Kansas State have stated definitely that they will not compete. Question Raises. So the question that Big Six athletic directors must answer at their meeting in December is whether they should revive the festival with only three or four schools likely to enter contest ants. All schools competed in the last meet held in 1942. Though Iowa State emerged victorious that day, Husker fans remember the sterling performances of Les Oldfield, Don Hilgert, Edwards and Worden, to mention a few. Nebraska has had some great swimming teams in the past, and interest is high in this year's prospects. Stress Conditioning:. Conditioning is being stressed by Husker Coach Ed Higgin botham in practice sessions held thus far. Preston Tucker and W. Gard, two naval trainees from Michigan, and Lowell Ankron from Falls City have turned in excellent performances in the 50 yard and 100-yard free styles. Other material is promising and it is certain that several veterans will be on hand when the second semester opens in January. Ad ditional material may be un covered during the intramural meet in December. Football Results October 22. Beta 6. A TO . Siff Ep 1. At Collere . Cornhusker Cinder Men Face Tigers Victorious over highly regarded Iowa State, Coach Ed Wier's two- milers are this week turning their attention toward Missouri. They meet the Tiger cinder squad in the two-mile test as a halftime highlight of the Nebraska-Mis souri grid game Saturday. Practice Run. Bested at the tape in a photo finish at Ames, Dean Kratz is again expected to lead the Husk ers. The personnel of the five man squad will be determined in a practice run held this afternoon on the stadium track. Return of Jerry Koble, who has been sidelined with a foot blister, may bolster the Husker squad considerably. He is expected to make a strong bid for a berth on the team in today's run.
