No Cleats.
In conjunction with the foot
ball announcement, the group de

great when all participants are
not equipped with standard foot
wear. Officials for the opening games
will be furnished by the depart
ment of physical welfare, but in
the future every house in the
league must produce two or three
men who will be willing to offi

Football moves into the sports
limelight this week end, with all
major teams seeing action; either
in tuneup games or in stern tests
which will give the gridiron prog
nosticators a few headaches.
Starting this week's whirl right
here In Lincoln, Oklahoma's com
bination of nine returning letter
men and the experience gained In
one previously played game add
up to a win over the Huskers, by
a much narrower margin than
most people believe. Altho the
Sooners have not been defeated
in their last 13 Big Six games,
and have not lost to Nebraska
since 1942, an upset is possible.
Missouri faces another dismal
afternoon at Columbus, meeting
another potential Big Ten champ
when they collide with Ohio
State. The two Kansas teams
should mark up wins over Den
ver and Wichita, with the Man
hattan Wildcats having the easier
time. Iowa State has a soft touch
in the Iowa State Teachers as
they prepare for next week's Big
Six game with Kansas.
In the Big Ten, the interstate
battle between Michigan and
Michigan State will go to the
Wolverines, Notre Dame should
squeeze past Illinois, Purdue to
drop Great Lakes, and Indiana
3oes after its second conference
win against Northwestern and
should succeed.
The Navy Middies will run
over Villanova, but Army faces a
rough afternoon when they meet
the AAF PDC Rockets from
Louisville, Ky., for the Rockets
are loaded with former collegiate
greats and professional stars.
Running over other games, USC
over California, Georgia Tech
over North Carolina, Syracuse
over Temple, Wake Forest over
Tennessee, Tulsa over West
Texas, Oklahoma A A M over
Arkansas, Penn over Brown and
Dartmouth over Holy Cross.
