THE NEBRASKAN Wednesday, November 15, 1944 New Progressive Party Presents Plan To Students PROGRESSIVE PARTY PLATFORM I. SELECTION OF BEST - QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS We advocate the selection of the best-qualified and most capable person for any office, both in the party and in any political cam pus position. We also advocate in dividual and thovghtful voting in nil general camnus elections. II. A THORO AND EXTENSIVE POSTWAR PROGRAM : We believe that the idmlnfctra lion should take every advantage M the G.I. Bill of Rirhts to en tconrage former students to return the University of Nebraska by thoro publicity campaign. We felso believe that aa extensive toostwar program should be insti tinted to erect needed buildings, tear down the old houses marring the campus and to beau tify the campus. IIL BUILDING STATE HISTOR ICAL MUSEUM ON CAMPUS We would like to see the build ing of the stite historical museum hn the campus. IV. FRESHMAN AND SOPHO MORE REPRESENTATION ON STUDENT COUNCIL We believe that all students should have a voice in student government and therefore advo cate a change in the Student Council constitution allowing pro portional representation of all classes, including graduate, senior, junior, sophomore and freshman. VII. EXTENSION OF PARTY CAMPAIGN PROCEDURE We recommend extension of the rules set forth governing cam paigning of political parties by the Student Council in order to permit the adequate placing of party candidates and platform before the student body. Vin. FAIR BALLOT COUNT We advocate that all heads of political parties on the campus be present at the counting of the ballots by the Student Council in partisan elections. IX. ENLIGHTENED ATTITUDE TOWARD WORLD PROBLEMS We feel that students should have an active interest in world affairs because students as mem bers of the educated element should recognise their responsibil ity in the affairs of this nation in relation to world problems. A free transportation syster between the city campus and th agricultural campus. 2. The continual attempt by th proposed faculty-student counc! to co-operate with the existin faculty-student council on the ag ricultural campus to promote ; greater feeling of unity between the two campuses. 3.
