Society Army Show Plays to Full House at UN Playing to a full house Wednes day night, combined Hollywood and student talent presented "Uni form of the Day" at the Temple Theater. The show was designed to ex plain the activities of the Women's Army Corp and demonstrate the importance of women's part in the war effort. Last night's perform ance was the 16th on the tour vhich has been made of mid-western universities. The play centers around a girl named Fat, portrayed by Carolyn Blake, who joins the WACs when her brother is killed in defense of his country. She is in love with a soldier named Bud, played by Lon McCallister, who leaves on ma neuvers as she joins the service. They meet three months later in a canteen and entertainment is pro vided by a 30 piece orchestra and sevral Hollywood and student en tertainers. Pvt. Winirrea Schmitt, playing the part of a canteen hostess, thrilled the audience with two piano numbers, "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Tea for Two." Pvt. Joe McKenna, acting as master of ceremonies at the canteen, sang twe numbers. UN student Joline Ackerman, Pvt. Herbert Stassen and Pvt. Hal Henrick also sang. The show was sponsored by AWS and the cast included Pvt. Lon McAllister, who portrayed Free Variety Show Victor McLoglen & Preston Foster in It THE INFORMER with Cartoon 3 P. War Council Asks UN Contributions For British Relief Sponsored by the war council's "On the Beam" committee, a drive for British War Relief is currently being carried on with the termina tion of the school term. Collections will be made at the various houses and in the Union on May 20. This is the last "Rag," the last week end to celebrate, and the last week end to study. Ha! Evidently, the shortage of time has made some people panicky, for many big things are on the fire for this com ing week end. The many-times postponed fac tion picnic may take place this Friday night. It's about time something was done about the weather, just for the faction. At the Alpha Tau-Delt house, we find some new combinations, and some not so new. Speaking of Delts, Johnny Van Home is escorting Mary Claire Phillips, Theta, this .veek end, Gordon Ehlers will be seen with Joyce Stuve, and "Purtz" is expecting his girl from Ste phens. On the other hand, speak ing of Taus, Bob Buxton and Shir Icy Staats, Alpha Chi, ought to call it steady again, for we never see one without the other, bam Seiffert, Tau of last year; is ar riving in town to take Helen John son, Delta Gamma, and new Mor tar Board, out "carousing." Kn sign Dick Stastny, another Tau from long ago and far away, will also be in Lincoln, and "a big bond drive is being held in his honor at the Blues." Frank Elston ana Mary Lancaster, Theta, are in the process of going steady, but have been having a little trouDie. What's the matter? Fiji's Tussle. The Phi Gams are stepping out this week end in all their glory. at a large "get-together'' at Penn Woods. This writer was informed that, "this picnic is in place of the annual Fiji-Tau tussle, because the Taus eouldn t supply enough men." Rough! Some of the Fijis attending the party with their dates are Paul Wyckert, with pin- mate, Marge Christiansen, Theta and it comes from reliable sources that Marge is taking her man, in stead of vice-versa. 'C'est le guerre!" "Andy" will be seen with Ruth Heindrich, Pi Phi, Bud Bier man with Catherine Ross, A. O. Pi, Varro Tyler with Virginia Demal, Alpha Phi; Al Martin with Mary Jean Jones, Max T. Nigh with Mary McNair, Delta Gamma, and Rex Stotts with Dorothy Cum bow, A. O. Pi. Question: Why does Leslie Me theny have to study so hard this week end? Some of the Delts Towne Club Gives May Breakfast Towne Club members will en tertain their mothers at the club's annual May breakfast Sunday, May 14, at 8:30 in Ellen Smith hall. New officers will be pre sented at the breakfast. Vlreinln. Stuermer will ooen the. nrorram with a welcome to the mothers. A new feature to be in augurated this year is the pres entation of a special pin to the. sophomore member most outstand ing in scholarship and activities. would like to know . . . "N" Clubbers Feast. Sunday will find the members of the "N" club pickr.icking at Linoma Beach, and Bob Tange man, Kappa Sig, will be seen with Nancy Sutton, Alpha Phi, Doug Nelson, Phi Delt, with Dona Brugh, Theta, and Artman and Jones. Bill Long, Phi Gam, doesnt have a late yet, so look out, girls, God's gift to women is on the loose. Bette June Baldwin, Alpha Phi, ar.d Paul Toren, Sig Chi, are now pinned, and Congrats go to them. But there is a hint of intrigue here. Betty June is rooming with Paul's former pinmate, Joanie Witt. Nat Kline, Phi Rho of Omaha and former Sig Alph, has been see ing much of Janet Krause, DG. Jeanne Rotten, Theta, and Mil ford Epp, med student, are also dating much. Mary Louise God dard, former Pi Phi, and now an ensign in the WAVES, was back in Lincoln displaying a ring from Ted Green.
