4 THE NEBRASKAN Friday, April 28, 1944 Former Students Announce Spring Wedding Ceremonies On Saturday evening, April 22 Miss Betsy Jane Wright, daughter of Mrs. Earle J. Wright, became the bride of Lt. Nathan Holman 3rd, son of Mr. and Mrs. JJathan C. Holman, jr. A prelude of Alpha Chi Omega end Sigma Nu sweetheart songs preceded the ceremony, which was solemnized at the First Plymouth Congregational church. Immedi ately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors. Mrs. Holman attended the Uni versity of Nebraska where she is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Lieutenant Holman is a graduate of Nebraska where he is affiliated with Sigma Nu, social, and Phi Delta Phi, law fraternity. Following a wedding trip to Birmingham, Ala., and Atlanta, Ga., the couple will make their home at 115 East 14th street, in Anniston, Ala. News has been received of the engagement and forthcoming mar riage of Lt. George Souders, for mer Beta, to Miss Madelene Favier of 'Merced, Calif. George is the famous character in "Spin In Dumbwhacks, ' written by a Ne braska graduate, Lt. Dick Ryan Announcement has been made of the engagement and approach ing marriage of Miss Ann Sea- crest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Fred Seacrest of Lincoln, to Wayne Southwiok, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Soulhwjck of Friend Miss Seacrest is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and has com pleted her junior year at Scripps Polly Petty to Wed ... . .1 VTS college. May 7 at a breakfast at which the oficers of Phi U will be installed. The members are chosen for scholarship, leadership, and prom ise in the profession. Doris Wood Weds in May . . . '. Si 4 From Lincoln Journal. Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Pettegrew announce the engagement and ap proaching marriage of their daughter, Doris Wood, to William A. Green, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Green of Bayard. Miss Wood is attending the University of Nebraska and is active in Kappa Phi and Towne club. Mr. Green is a former student at the university and at the present time is an instructor at the Nebraska school of agriculture in Curtis. The wedding will be an event of early May. f V Mr. and Mrs. William M. Petty of McCook announce the engage ment and approaching marriage of their daughter, Polly Ann, to En sign A. M. Mason, jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mason of Lincoln. Miss Petty, prominent in university activities, is a member of Alpha Phi sorority, student foundation, and Student Union board. In 1894 the members of the old Electrical Engineering Society feeling that some day electricity would be universally used, decided to show the public what they knew about this mysterious "stuff." This was the beginning of Engi neers Day. Other departments of the col lege joined in putting on an exhi bition in 1913. As laboratory equipment became more plentiful, the scope widened, and to the open house were added the annual en gineers' banquet, convocation and field day. This made up Engineers' Week, which has had to be re duced to a day since the begin ning of the war.
