DAILY NEBRASKAN
Inter murals Reach Hot
I must eay, that this week's
football results turned out as was
expected. With but the smallest
rumber of upsets and surprises, It
was a dopesters hey-day. (This
does not Include yours truly, how
ever, as I just keep right on mud
dling along.) The vaunted Irish
rapped a gallant Navy by a bigger
score than most of us would have
imagined, so naturally, they are
now higher up the list as the
"bestest ever" than before. The
loss (and altho a tie, it mu.: be
considered a loss) of the army to
a "fiehtin' " Pennsylvania was
perhaps the most surprising fea
ture of the week. And, it just goes
to prove, that altho a team may
be the best one week, they may
be beaten by the worst the next
week. Anyway, to get back to af
fairs, the 13 to 13 tie that Army
drew from Penn puts them down
the list, and is rather a gloomy
preditcion of just what the Irish
should do to the west rointers
However, saying something like
that is just sticking out your neck
Every week, new Navy and Ma
rine transfers take place, boys are
taken from school on a moments
notice its just a very unpredict
able afair. Suppose that next week
or this week the Navy were to
call up all of the boys from No
tre Dame for immediate duty or
transfer them to Columbia or
someother school. Well, you can
see what I mean. The Irish
wouldn't be worth a plugged Colo
rado Tax Token and the fortunate
school that got the cream would
be the best team in the nation. It
is to horrible to even think of,
(That is from a sports writers
angle.)

The Big Six has developed into
a two way race, with the Missouri
Tigers and the Oklahoma Sooners,
both undefeated in conference
play, gunning for first place hon
ors. and Nebraska. Iowa State,
and Kansas fighting it out for 6ec
ond. That leaves Kansas State
holding the bag anyway you look
at it; however, a victory over the
Huskers next week would leave
them both holding the gunny, ably
aided by Kansas university.
The way things could turn out
we mieht find one champ, and
five last place teams in- the con
ference this year, but it is ver
unlikely, the way things are look
ing now. It would seem that the
Tigers will have clear sailing this
season, right up to the finish, un
less some of those transfers, that
I was talking about .take place in
the near future.
If you are not as confused by
now. as I am, then it am t my
fault. This sports writing is

Finish In Champ Race
Both men and women inter-
murals wound up their first round
of activities this week with plenty
of spirit and fire. With the cham
pionship playoff's drawing to a
close this week, interest and ex
citement was high, and all of the
games were hotly battled. In the
men s division, the playoff of the
game for the Football Champion
ship ended in a tie, and the Sig
Chis will have to meet the ATOs
again this Thursday to hash a re
match out for the championship.
The Delta Gammas won a rough
and tough game from the Pi Phis
to decisively take the Soccer Base
ball Championship.
Men's Intermurals.
The football playoffs became
hot and fast, as all of the teams
went into the final playoffs, with
all of them trying to annex top
honors. Most of the games were
decided In extra periods, or at least
not until the final minutes.
In Tuesday's games, the Beta
Sigs defeated the Betas by a score
fought from start to finish, and it
was not until a last minute pass,
that a two quarter deadlock was
broken.
In the other Tuesdy game, the
Sigma ZBTs defeated the Sig Eps
in another close battle by a score
of 8 to 6. Both teams played good
ball, and an extra quarter was
needed to decide the winner.
Thursday, the ATOs and the Sig
Chis met to decide the champion
ship. However, this game resulted
in a 6 to 6 tie, even though an
extra quarter was played. Both of
these teams are first class, and the
game should be an interesting
event, when they meet again this
Thursday, November 4, to replay
the championship game
Tuesday, November 2, the Beta
Sigs met the Sigma ZBTs for the
consolation playoffs.
WOMEN'S INTERMURALS
After a hard fought tournament,
the Delta Gammas defeated the
Pi Phis 7-4 in the finals to win
the soccer baseball championship
of 12 to 6. The game was harden women's intermurals. The semi
