All The Fun Here
All the little sals are sett hi jr tlioir fiirs to the ground
again, trying to find out who are ihe next members of the
lilaek Masqm And all third year women are doing their darn
dest. to out-activity all the other third-year women.
Such an interesting spectacle for those observing!
.Maybe this year will be different and people will be chosen
on the amount of work they do. We hope so. Meanvhile we
shall watch the process of these 25 junior coeds trying to get
all they can in spite of the opposition.
lfs a good show! We'd lather see it anytime than a movie
starring both Joan Crawford and Marlene Dielrieh.
My dear Triphammer Peepash:
I write this letter from the deepest depths of despair. My
life has become a meaningless thing and so 1 place myself in
the hands of mv suicidal mind. Hut before taking the ultimate
step, I have decided to appeal to you; for it is only through
vou that T mav be saved!
Tlii mm-ninor. in mv eiirht o'clock sosh class, I chanced
li non vonr column. Live and Learn. There, through the mercy
of Cod, I read of Feebleman. Before I had finished, 1 had be
come so enamoured with him that Hhinehart (who had form
erly filled my world) was obliterated.
Thev sav that opnosites are attracted to one another and
this mav be mv ease. I am 3 foot !) inches tall and buxom is
hardly the word for me. All my life 1 have hungered for puny
little men and Feebleman has come closest to my idea. (II;1
has even achieved perfection.)
So please, if you
have anv love for humanity DON'T

That flash of blonde hair tearing around the
basement of the Union is probably 1943 Yearbook
Editor Betty Hohf who is seriously considering
moving her cot into the Cornhusker office until
some time in May when "the book will come out."
At a casual glance Betty may appear something
like a lady general with all of her pins, for be
sides her Kappa key and Mortar Board badge, she
also wears a Sigma Chi pin.
One of Betty's favorite topics of late is the re
cent trip to Chicago she took via the Nebraska
Minnesota football game. Her gripes are few and
far between, but of her pet ones is to ask someone
to do something and then have to do it herself
because the other person has failed to do It "You
waste so much energy that way."
Betty, who thinks her eyes are blue but isnt
sure because she "really doesn't look into her own
)w eyes," is a member of Kappa
t Kappa Gamma and Mortar
Board and a senior. Her activi-
ties include, besides editing the
r$C Cornhusker, vice president of
J YWCA and vice president of the
Black Masques.
"Oh, and I go to school when
I can find some free time just
sor t of a pastime," said Betty a
she expertly thumbed thru some
From Lincoln journal. n e w contracts for yearbook
that came in her morning mail.
When it comes to a favorite food Betty could go
on forever or at least until she runs out of fatten
ing things, but since she was pinned down to just
a couple she decided upon double chocolate sundaes.

men stationed on this campus
throughout the year, with special
emphasis given to the fact that
every man would have his pic
ture in the book. Seven repre
sentatives from the entire unit
would work with the yearbook
staff to insure the publication of
a military section which would be
representative of UN military
life.
Betty pointed out that all these
plans could be carried through
only if a certain percentage of
the men themselves would buy
copies of the book. The men re
sponded with the purcchase of 597
copies and with the chance of
subscribing for more copies at a
later time, thus assuring the in
clusion of a military section in the
Cornhusker.
Bob Henderson, business man
ager of the Cornhusker, then ex
plained the cost of the book, will
be $4.50 with 10 percent of that
reverting back to the company
fund.
Colonel Murphy.
Colonel James R. Murphy, com
manding officer of all military
units stationed on the campus,
gave two short addresses on the
proposals put before the men and
announced that a half holiday with
no study hall would be given the
men on Thanksgiving.
Major Harland G. Pattison,
commanding officer of the AST
unit in Love library, was in charge
of the meeting, and he introduced
the other officers of the ASTP.
