Counselors Discuss New Freshmen At the first Coed Counselor meeting of the year, which was held yesterday at Ellen Smith Hall, freshmen registration was discussed and explained to the new Counselors who will act as guides to freshmen. Katherine Wells, president of Coed Counselors, presided at the meeting and Dean N. A. Bengston of the Junior division explained the method of directing students to their schools. Library ,Field House To Hold 2,000 Soldiers More soldiers for Nebraska was the news this weekend from the university military authorities. They announced that there will be about 2,000 men in uniform go ing to classes here by the middle of October. Of this number, the aviation cadets, engineering, for eign area and language students will number about 1,500. The STAR unit on the ag college cam pus will be kept at around 500. Eighty-one advanced ROTC stu dents arrived on the campus in late Auguflt, according to Col. J. P. These students, sent to the STAR unit here, are from the Univer sity of North Dakota, North Da kota college of agriculture, and South Dakota State. To crovide Quarters for these soldiers, contractors are complet ing the university atnietics neiu house and the fourth floor of the new library. The field house is expected to quarter about 400 men after the floor and plumbing fa cilities are completed. A new floor and ceiling are be ing put In the fourth floor of the Don L. Love Memorial library. Workmen are Installing dining room equipment in parlors XYZ of the Union, which will then be able to take care of meals for 1,500 men. All equipment will be ready for use soon. Trainees in advanced engineering, foreign area and lan guages will arrive as soon as fa ciities are adequate.
