The meet this morning will be
the first home outdoor track meet
for Minnesota since 1941, and will
give the fans their first oppor
tunity to see the Gophers in action
this year.
Starting at 10 a. m. the meet
will be run off in the morning to
clear the stadium for the weekly
football scrimmage which will be
held in the afternoon.
Last year Minnesota was beaten
by Wisconsin m a triangular meet
while Northwestern placed third.
The Gophers have veterans in
several events, while freshmen arc
counted on heavily to take over
the burden of places left vacant
by graduations and losses to the
armed forces.

Alpha Tau Omega athletes, win
ners of the historic Jack Best tro
phy last week, set up the second
highest total of points - 858 ever
compiled by a victorious aggrega
tion in intramural play.
Dick Petrings and his boys
lacked but a few digits of tying
the top mark of 875 points petup
by Beta Theta Pi in 1942. One
year before Delta Upsilon compiled
750 points to win the trophy.
The ATOs copped the football,
track, and tennis crowns during
the 1943 season to best Phi
Gamma Delta in a tight head to
head finish decided on the last day
of play when ATO won by forfeit
as the AGRs clipped the Fijics.
The Texas Christian university
campus is without a single varsity
sports squad this spring, probably
for the first time in 50 years.
Enrollment of students for cor
respondence work through the
University of Texas extension
teaching bureau this year totals
1,555, as compared with 1,398 last
year.
