Wednesday, January 20, 1943 DAILY NEBRASKAN Huskers Face Sparse Indoor Track Season Nebraska's graduation - riddled ppikesters will crack open the 1943 season at Columbia on Feb. 13 and will face Kansas State here Feb. 20, according to Big Six schedules released. "Our material is pretty skimpy but we are going all out with what we have," said Headman Ed Weir, glancing over his cinder prodigies, last Saturday. Few Vets. "We have a few veterans and a few other boys who should get us some points, but I won't know what to expect until after the second semester begins," declared Weir. Top sprint candidates are Al Brown and Bob Eowles, pressed bv a speedy newcomer, Dick Fe tring, but Weir hopes to round these into a more formidable crop by luring gridders Zikmund and Cooper into the fold. Brown and Bowles lead the pack of quartermen and either may have to take a shot at half miler competition. Nebraska appears potent in the shot put where hefty Vic Schleich, Ki Eisenhart and Howie Debus hold the fort. All three are vet eran weightmen and will double in the discus. Debus will be around again in the pole vault when he chopped off a chunk of points last year and will be backed by an other bamboo man in Don James, Evanston, 111., sophomore. The Big Six annual conference indoor meet is slated for Kansas City on Feb. 27, which eliminates the possibility of freshmen break ing into action in the indoor meets Sirs.
