Friday, May 15, 1942 DAILY NEBRASKAN 7 KksEseirs efi No d! Son E3I Track Cofracpesft IPireBoinnis Nebraska's track squad rules a favorite to recapture the Big Six banner symbolic of supremacy upon the conference outdoor track and field environs as the Big Six teams gather in Lincoln today and tomorrow for the annual cinder championships. But the margin by which the Scarlet cinder artists bring home the banner will be decidedly close. At thin point, the small but potent Oklahoma Sooner squad and the growling Tigers of Missouri have an even chance for the second place trophies. Huskert Favored.- There is some talk of the two teams being able to combine enough points to force the Huskers out of the top spot but the way we see it right now the Scarlet team will come home under the wire with 15-17 point advantage over Missouri with the Sooners ranking third. Seven of last year's winners will be on hand to aid in the individual duals which will feature the run ning of this annual event. Seven Are Back. Last year winners who will be on hand include: 100 yard dash. Orvllte Mathews, Okla homa. 440 yard .lash, William Lvda. Okla homa. Mile run, Robert Glnn. Nebraska. Two mile run, Richard Smrthers. Gene "The Red" Littler, winds up intercollegiate competition to day and tomorrow, burdened with injury. Red, probably one of the most colorful cinder artists ever turned out at Nebraska, has sprint records by the score over his long period of track supremacy. During the indoor season he was hit by pneumonia which caused him a lot of difficulty since then as he has been held out of his favorite event, the quarter mile. He got to run the century and the furlong but this week he pulled a muscle, aggravating an old leg injury, and is now hobbling as the Big Six meet comes off. ii.uim-Ml.,i.ijui...lmiiMl ..... . , u.u suAw.mmmKiwmwimmumtummMwmmm, ar'' '44 3-Pc.
