Wellesley is said to be the first women's college to have its own radio station: ' ) 1 SpJOJiiA. iiJhhL it -J By Bob Miller sac RPRTNrt is about SDrune as far as sports are concerned and as far as we are concerned. . . . Since last fall, we have been writing up the sports whirl as we have seen it It has been a good year even if the trophy room wasn't filled to overflowing with first place cups, etc. ... We didn't mind writing about the football team in defeat even though we had to do it five Saturday afternoons in a row. WE didn't mind when we had to run a half mile in the rain following the Iowa State football game to get the story on the wire. ... It hat been fun The basketball team didn't win a majority of its games throughout the season and that didn't make any dif ference. . . . Neither did the swimming team. ... the wrestling team. . ... the gymnasts ... the tennis team ... the golf crew ... the baseball aggregation. . . . This made no difference because we were writing about the whole-hearted efforts of a group of fellows that we knew and that we admired. . . . It's easy to write stories about people like that. . . . THE older heads say that it is the editor's license to write a swan song at the end of his term. . . . And since we have the name "sports" ahead of the editor part, we decided to make use of the li cense. . . . Next fall we will be batting off "legitimate news" in the words of the director of the school of journalism, Harold Hamil. . . . What we have tried to do, futilely perhaps, is to help preserve a tra dition, the Husker tradition. ... If in any way we have done so, we will be completely happy. SO much for that, there is not much more to talk about in the Nebraska sports world. ... If you have waded through the first three paragraphs, it is a wonder but now that you are this far, we might remind you of some coming events. . . . Today and tomorrow will be big track days. . . . Today will see the finals of the state high school meet plus Big Six prelims and tomorrow will be the finals of the conference meet. . . . Today the baseball team meets Kansas State as they will do tomorrow afternoon. . . . The tennis and golf teams entertain the Oklahoma groups this afternoon. THE track team haa done the expected this year, winning the indoor, many dual meets and favored in the outdoor. . . . The same squad that has for three years stuck together, will be pulling out after the final days of this semester. . . . Harold Hunt, Bill Smutz, Edael Wibbels, Eugene Littler. THIS about winds up the column, the sports page, the sport's yea- the school year et al. . . . Don't forget the national intercol legiate track and field championships in the middle of June on the Nebraska track. ... It will be the best track meet on Musker cinders for quite some time. . . . This is the last paper so as another columnist says, "Good by and 30." UJ rn LM Saturday & Sunday Skate Swim Ride Play May 16th and 1.7th Make Capitol Beach your Vacationland this year.
