Spring serenades a la love. And
we dont mean Love Hall. And
speaking of Love Hall, we want
to register a plaintive complaint
from Northeast Hall over at Car
rie Belle along with Love. It has
to do with serenades, the frater
nity, male kind. These poor little
Beiles are so far from the front
of the building where all serenad-
-6
oices of the Sigma Kus go un
heard. And don t think these girls
are unappreciative of serenading
either. Just ask the four Betas
who were recently showered with
cigarettes in return for their en
terprising. Now we don't like Dorothy Dix
and her dainty daily column, but
can we help it if we're pushed into
this thing by the deadeye Delts?
We are asked, we are begged, we
ar implored to get ill a date with
Peg Elliot, Alpha Chi, for Jack
SpittW, and i2) another date
with Theta Becky Wait for Max
Wilson. And please, girls, turn in
the results for future publication.
Pin Pasting Passes Us,
A pin passing that passed us by
was the recent donation that Roy
Prcchaska added to Joan McCoy's
Chi O decorations. Would the lady
like orchids? What lady wouldn't?
Let's go to the Delta Sig spring
formal way out at the Broadview
country club under tonight's lus
cious lunar lamp. Shall we let
Floyd Hewitt and Jean Marie
Stewart transport us ? Or Warren
Jeffery and Barbara True, Tn
Delta, or Joe Flammang and his
Chi O Gloria Hansom, or Joe An

Jones. Brother John Castle, cousin
of TheU Weery Lefler's pin-mate
of last long ago. is trucking down
via a telephone to drag the dame
to the aforesaid dance.

Wedding Bells. ...
The above wedding bells which
are soon to ring for Theta Bets
O'Shea and Phi Psi Jake Morrow
will ring but soon May 27 to be
exact. And today Tri-Delt Kay
Duermyer is getting right into the
spirit of things with a shower for
the bride-to-be at the Country
club. (The shower to be at the
club, not the bride-to-be, although
of course the bride-to-be will be
there. I
Special permission enabled the

be sure those Buller sisters will
be on hand, Myrldene with Mor

And who is it that Theta Har
old "Hoppy" Hopkins. Keppy Sig.
is dating tonight? Looks as if it
might be vivacious Sheila Wheeler
on the receiving end of so many
telephone cans lately. Tch. tch.
and she is partial to Phi Pa Bill

UN Gets Second Dance
Mystery at N Club Party
May 16
Mystery, like the veil of the
sultan's wife, enshrouds the "N"
Club's first Queen of all Queens
in a cloud of dark glamour as six
beautiful coeds vie with each
other for the honor of being the
first in UN's history to merit the
new title.
Selected from a field of 25 cam
pus queens, Beldora Cochran,
Betty Marie Wait, Lois Drake,
Betty Nichols, Alice McCampbell
and Virginia Ford will attend the
dance as t queens of queens,
and one of them will be presented
as THE Queen of ALL Queens.
In order to choose the candi
dates, N Club men watched the 25
original queens for a period of
two weeks and then voted for the
six they like best. Next these six
were invited to dinner, and after
that the members voted on their
choice of the Queen of All Queens.
And she is, N Club members as
sure everyone, a queen. But her
name wont be revealed until one
week from Saturday, " May 16,

play for the annual "Fun" party.
With the gals in informal
dresses, sweaters and skirts or
suits and dancing in high heels,
gaiety and comfort will reign at
the party. Pastor plays hot songs
in an individual style and the
drummer of his band, Johnny
Morris, was the composer of the
song hit of a few years back.
"Knock Knock." His latest num
ber is "Par diddle Joe," composed
in collaboration with Pastor.
Tickets for the dance are priced
at $1.50 per couple, and may be

Bad Temper May Be Better
Than Good One SayPsychProfs
EVANSTON. 111. (ACP). "Bad"
tempers are often better than
"good" ones, but a medium tem
per is the best of all, conclude
two Northwestern university psy
chologists. Dr. Graydon L. Freeman and
El-nest Haggord tested 20 boys'
emotional arousal by playing a
game in which, as in professional
gambling, they could not win.
Emotional reaction was studied
by means of measurements of
perspiration on the palms. Mus
cular reactions also were studied,
to determine what sort of action
the boy attempted to counteract
his losses.
Conclusions:
1. The original nervous perspi
ration of an individual has no re
lation to his behavior during pe
riods of anger.
2. In a stressful situation, the
person who reacts outwardly
shows a temper will recover in
ternal stability sooner than a per
son who remains outwardly calm
has a "good" temper.
3. The person who directs his
energies directly toward his prob
lem recovers inwardly faster than
either the outwardly calm person
or the violent one who does not
attack the problem directly.
4. In a stressful situation a per
son who is emotionally excitable
and becomes excessively aroused
will -cool off" more slowly than
the person who reacts moderately.
