University Coliseum, Feb. 7. Ability to get a lead and keep it was the deciding factor as Ne braska's underrated cagers hand ed invading Iowa State basketeers a 39-31 lacing to gain a tie for third place in conference stand ings. The Huskers captured the lead two and a half minutes after the contest's start and never relin quished it during the remainder. The halftime score was 19-15 in favor of the host club. Personal Fueding. Defensive play highlighted the encounter since it brought to gether Sid Held and Al Budolfson, high scoring Cyclone sensation. During the first half, Budolfson was assigned to guard Held and he did such an effective job that he limited the Nebraskan to four points but in doing so he collected three fouls for himself. In the second canto the Iowa star was assigned elsewhere and Held went to town, scoring 12 points to annate scoring honors. John Thompson, Husker forward, duplicated Budolfson's feat using the Iowan in the same role. While Thompson was guarding him, Bu dolfson netted but four points. Slow Scoring Game. Aside from these personal side lights, the tilt was a slow one along the scoring lines. Held start ed the scoring with his conversion following a foul by Budolfson. He ended the point-gathering, also, by taking advantage of Carol Schneider's foul. Kenny Elson, sophomore substi tute, started his first game at the forward position and his first half net swishing added to his in spired interceptionist role enabled the Huskers to maintain their ini tial lead. Starting the second period off in blistering style, the Huskers doubled their advantage in seven minutes and from that point on I ilk SHOES U SparUiaf Hack tmtn or Ri Call Woman's Shoes IM Standings The following is a. list of the latest fraternity intramural standings with football, volley ball, badminton and water polo points figured in: 1.
