DAILY NEBRASKAN Thursday, September IB, 194 r J!UL mm By Bob Miller Oklahoma is certainly to be pitted ... If we could believe Okla homa and "Snorter" Luster, the Sooners would end up fairly low on the win column. . .They claim that they do have a pretty fair backfield but have a poor line and no competent reserves . . . But when the list of line can didates is scanned, we don't feel so sorry fir the Sooner aggrega tion with Howard Eason and Howard Teeter at tackles, Ralph "Fats" Harris and Mitch Shadid at guards, and Dub Lamb at end . . . And look at the backfield . . . There's Marvin Whited, 190 pound senior fullback; Orv Mathews, 162 pound senior quarterback and 100 yard dash champion; Jack Jacobs, 185 pound tailback and Joe "Jun ior" Golding, 180 pound wingback. With a backfield like that and with that many linemen return ing, we don't see how any coach would have a right to ;ioan . . . It is an aggregation that has made Oklahoma the pre-season favorite of the Big Six . . . just remember that Nebraska is still .going to put one whale of a. team on that field this fall. . . . The Hastings trio, who Jed Hast ings to the front last fgil, namely George Stransky, Jake Miller and Wally Hopp have decided to enroll at the Hunker institution and will check out freshman suits today . . . Honey Outlines Intramural Set-up "Health in the nation plays an important part in times such as these. Personal health should cer tainly not be neglected by the stu dents because some type of recre ation is provided for every student at Nebraska. All of this intra mural activity is free. "Certainly a fellow is adapted to some type of play. This should prove especially true here, where all the equipment and materials are furnished by the university. I believe that this activity is espe cially adaptable to barbs, who need some type of planned recre ation more than the members of fraternaties. It gives them a chance to relax," Horney points out in urging the unaffiliated to sign up. All participants must have a physical examination before start ing competition. This is for the student's protection as well as the university's. Horney urged the Greeks to get organized immediately for touch He asks that all of the i get their own ball, but for a short time there will be practice balls avail able at the intramural office in the coliseum.
