Association of scientists
to meet on campus Friday
Ray Noble
is the coming attraction this week
as the campus routine is broken
with a mid-week celebration which
features the music of a top notch
dance band, the presentation of
Nebraska's beauties and the com
plete transformation of the coli
seum as the Grill will be moved to
the stage while soft lights will
create a party atmosphere in place
of the usual garish lighting system.
Several of the fraternities are
showing their school spirit as they
voluntarily promise 100 percent at
tendance. A few pre-view dating
combinations which will be seen
include that very new combination
of Alpha Fhi Janet Ralston, and
Tau Mark Hargrave. DU "Hap"
Brainard will be there with DeeGee
Jean Donley.
Romances and such
bring us to the fact that Alpha
Phi Dot Griswold is now wearing
the Alpha Sig pin of activity man
John Gayer.
ChiO Yvonne Costello and SAE
Vike Francis announced their en
gagement. While Theta Alice An
derson ami Sigma Chi Corwin
Moore tied the nuptial knot yes
terday in a lovely church wedding.
A counter rumor comes to us
about Ruth Grosvenor whose plans
include an eastern jaunt to school
next year but the man in question
hails from Nebraska and is doing
his military turn in Little Rock.
There i.s a report around that
AOPi "Bunny" Chapline is wear
ing the Kappa Sig pin of Jack
Clarke. The first time that this
happened in public was at the Kap
pa Sig sweetheart dinner Sunday,
but some say that she has had it
for quite some time.
People are still talking
about the Kosmet Klub show and
the cracks which flew between DG
Betty Newman and Sig Chi Bob
McNutt about the relative merits
of their two houses. Some of these
carried over the footlights and
caused front rowers like Jackie
Gladney and Jack Peck to enjoy
the show a lot more.
When the liclas
go to the Turnpike it's news, for
these boys are notorious for their
non attendance. The reason for
their enthusiastic turn out this
weekend was the fact that the
band leader was one of the clan.
Theta Becky Wait and George
Souders, Kappa June Jamison and
"Piker" Davis were among the
group of steady daters who enter
tained the maestro at a table dur
ing intermission.
Doing their Sunday night danc
ing at the same place wera. Phi
Delt Nick Duvas and Theta Betty
Mae Klopp. Reunited Virginia
Bergstcn and Thi Gam Frank
White were there which makes us
wonder just how Bill Dafoe fits
into the picture.
Petty Picture
drew a crowd in the Union. Peo
ple like Alpha Phi Alice Becker
and SigmaChi Tom Luhe and Jose
phine Gold and Stan Klien paused
to look and comment on their way
into the grill. This is just one of
the eleven life sized drawings
which will be in the coliseum for
the Cornhusker Union party Wednesday.

part. Although the too-long musio
threatened to become monotonous,
her singing, along with that of the
other principles, drove the threat
away.
Singers receive curtain calls.
For students, Genzlinger's and
Miss Michael's brief numbers were
very pleasing. The women's chorus
harmonized beautifully, and the
men's chorus, on the whole, was
fairly good. All members of the
show received numerous curtain
calls.
Deserving special notice was the
orchestra, directed by Mr. Don
Lcntz. Its accompaniment left
nothing to be desired by the au
dience. When the orchestra com
bined with the chorus the effect
was very impressive.
