Not to be overlooked, too, is the fact that Thompson's studies were in chem istry, and physics, subjects defi nitely not on the pipe list. Consider, at the same time, the case of one Forrest Behm, lad named to a number of last sea son's All-Amerlcan outfits, who had the average for similar hon ors but lacked a small requirement in languages. Behm, however, was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, honorary bizad fraternity. It is the equivalent, of Phi Beta Kappa in business administration. Uptet of the week Early in the week, one Merlin Stackhouse, embryo frosh track man in the hurdles category, found himself on the wrong end of a bottoms up deal. While he was walking home, a small dog ran between his legs. Thinking noth ing of it, he walked two steps farther to suddenly be hit by a force similar to a hurricane gone berserk. It was Byron, the Beta's gigantic Great Dane dog. A hit and run job, the dog kept on, leaving in ruins behind him, Stackhouse, with a scalp ruin that required some stitches to close the deal. Plenty hot race Torrid, now, is the Interfratcr nity Intramural race for the treas ured Jack Best trophy. However, after last night's championship game In which the Delta Upsilon team came out on the best end of the score in a fracas with Kappa Sigma, it begins to look as if they would be the team to bet on as far as first place in the race goes. Their bowling is going strong now, and they still hold a spot in the ping pong tussle. We go out on a limb here to predict them as the winners of the trophy this year taking it for granted that their hot streak will last through track and softball. Speaking of trophies There are four sleek cups await ing the other fraternities winning the four spots under the Jack Best championship. Pick any of thir teen teams in the lower bracket score listing and you have a good chance of picking a cup winner. That's how close that race is. We hope to have the standings of the 21 fraternities in the race for you within the next two days. Colorado diamond nine a question mark squad Coming out of the west these days are reports on the University of Colorado baseball squad, Ne braska's first opponent this sea son. The two teams shall meet twice on the 11th and 12th of April. This week Colorado's veteran baseball coach, Harry Carlson, starting his fourteenth year as head of the Buff diamond squad, expressed the opinion as he watched his charges romp thru early season drills that "if our pitching staff holds up, we'll have another pretty good team this year." Last spring Colorado was undefeated in fourteen games, win ning the Big Seven title in a walk. Question mark class. Considering the men lost thru one method or another, C. Such characteristics are observable only through close ac quaintanceship. Readily apparent, however, is a person's knowledge of social usage or his lack of it. All of us wish our social behavior to be such that other people will be at tracted to us rather than repelled. All of us like to be liked. No individual is born with social skills. He learns them throughout his entire lifetime. The questions. To test your social skills In average campus conditions see if you can answer the following questions correctly: 1. What do you do if you can't remember the name of the person whom you are introducing? 2. Does being in a class with a person serve as an introduction? 3. Does one use academic titles Professor, Doctor, and Dean in making introductions? 4. Would you break a ham burger sandwich in two before eating it? 5. What do you do If you don't know whether your escort can af ford an entire dinner? Should he make suggestions from the menu? 6. What do you do If the check has been added incorrectly? Is a man considered a "tightwad" If he calls a waiter's attention to the error ? 7. What do you do If the girl you are with speaks to someone you do not know? 8. Does a student lift his hat to a professor? 9. If you were calling a girl for a "date" would you ask, "What are you doing tonight?" 10. If you had taken a girl dancing, would you consult her before trading dances? The answers to the above ques tions will appear In the DAILY.
