Rally! and if this effort is low
pitched and distinctly unintellig
ible it's because we're hoarse from
yelling and stuff... and smelling
roses . . .
Last night amid the snow and
the breeze Ace Rawalt and Doris
Halsted gratified the Sig Eps and
the Alpha Thi's with a very fine
candy passing. . .one of those long
anticipated deals. . .
If everyone who has going to the
iwnc iaiwi iii iiuuu mere
nian will be able to squeeze in...
Johnny Dean and Duke Schatz
will be .sporting Sigma Nu pins
to the Tigge Dinner next Saturday
night. . .they were initiated Sun
day night. . .
Harold Drcyer, Charles Fenter,
Stanley Elsen, Erwin Klein, and
Richard Lundgren are all new
initiates of Beta Sigma Psi...the
Beta Sigs also announce the pledg
ing of Clarion Buethc and Van
Harmon . . .
On pledgings. . .the Acacias
pledged recently Jack Lynch . . .
Tolly Parmele, Pi Thi pledge,
seems to have a military ball date
with a phone call from Kansas
City. . .which will interest a couple
of local lads. . .
Tom Ingles and Gamma Fhi
prexy Mary Lauvitz are really
finding that they have a very fine
deal there... the only snag in the
whole beautiful thing is that Tom
my Ingles is off to be a soldier. . .
something that this twosome has
been dreading for the past month
. . . cause they've just gone to
gether about that long. . .
Jim Beltzer has an idea on this
Rose Bowl stuff... the Kappa Sig
is heading for Seattle and an old
love before heading for Pasadena
...locally he and Theta Barbara
York seem to be getting along
quite nicely...

Olson, Ordal
write daily
columns
Ilislory gral students
interpret news; eontaet
profs for interviews
Domestic and international news
will be interpreted in the DAILY
NEBRASKAN beginning tomor
row when the first of special daily
columns by James C. Olson and
Rolf W. Ordal, graduate students
in the history department, will be
run.
In addition to the interpretive
column, Olson and Ordal will con
tact professors for interviews
about current problems in the
fields in which they specialize. Oc
casionally, book reviews and
articles written by professors and
obtained and edited by the two
new staff members will be fea
tured. "Last year, this type of column
was used effectively, but until
these two new men offered their
services, we could not find anyone
with a suitable background for
this type of columns," said Nor
man Harris, DAILY editor. "This
new department was formed with
the co-operation of the history de
partment and with the hope of
satisfying the many students in
terested in contemporary history."
60 to attend annual
dinner tonight
Hanging of the Greens dinner
will be held in Ellen Smith to
night. Approximately 60 women
students will attend this traditional
gathering. After the court, par
lors, and offices have been dec
orated with the evergreens sent
here from Estes park an informal
supper will be served. Girls on
UN singers present program
of traditional Christmas carols
Two shows scheduled Sunday
Unusual and traditional Christ
mas carols from many lands will
be sung by the University singers
when they appear Sunday in a
Christmas concert in the Union
ballroom. The chorus, composed of
60 voices, under the direction of
Dr. A. E. Westbrook, will be ac
companied by an electric organ
and two brass quartets.
This year's concert will keep
the same spirit evidenced in the
Christmas Rhapsody presented by
the chorus last year. Two per
formances of the program have
been arranged, the first to begin
at 2:30 p. m. and the second at
4 p. m.
Since the seating capacity of
the Union ballroom is restricted
to 800 at each performance, free
admission cards will be distributed
in advance from the Union office.
All who wish to attend the con
cert must have a card, and a
ticket will assure its holder of a
seat.
