The trend in this year's evening coats is away from the staid black velvet of former years to new brilliant jewel colors in flannel, wool, or velvet. Reds, greens, violets, pinks all will be seen. Often as not these new coats have a military silhouette with flashing gold or silver buttons marching down the front. Swoop ing capes are also seen this sea son. Ruth Conklin has chosen one in black velvet. Pink brocade A pink brocaded evening coat is chosen by Anne Kinder, Pi Phi. A fur-line hood distinguishes the black velvet coat of Dede Mc Clelland, Tri Delt, which is fitted and floor length. Blond Dorothy Wind has chosen a turquoise blue slipper satin for her formal dress. Her black vel vet cape with its hood is lined with the same satin. Mary Lee Adams, Alpha Chi, has a white tweed wool fitted coat appliqued with gold kid. Scarlet is the color chosen by Pi Phi Gay Gaden and Alpha Chi Phyllis Smith for their evening wraps. Gay's is a cape with ermine trim.
