May Day's greatest news con-
eists of engagements and weddings
to take place right after school
... the engagement of Margaret
Baker to J. Wilgua Eberly has re
cently been announced ... both
are graduates of the University of
Nebraska, where Miss Baker is a
Mu Phi Epsilon, Alpha Rho Tau,
and Ft Kappa Lambda, and Mr.
Ebeily is a Sig Ep ... no date
has been set for the wedding. . .
The betrothal of Joan Milliken,
Kappa, to Dr. Henry J. Lehhoff,
jr. of Brooklyn, N. Y. was an
nounced Sunday. . . Dr. Lehhoff
was a Beta in school here, and
graduated also from Northwestern.
The wedding of Jane Neater to
Edward Deklotz which took place
April 21 was announced Sunday
. . . Mr. Dcklotx was a Sigma Nu
when in school here.
And to go from engagements

end society . . . Saturday night at
the CorrAusker were the Sig Ep
district conclave and the Pi Phi
Pounder's Dav banauet ... at the
Country club was the Kappa Sig
conclave . . . but the campus talk

authoratative talk. too. since
nearly everyone from here went
there . . . among others there were

huge week for play, with the schol
astic angle closing in, too . . .

hall was a Freshman Recognition
tea . . . the award for high scholar
ship went to Rose Marie Kotss,
with honorable mention to Rose
mary Atkinson; Frances Drenguis;
Ruth Grosvenor; Alice Hoege
meyer; Louise McPherson; Clara
Malater; Ruth Millar; Esther Pat
terson; Marion Roberts; Jean Wi
thers; and Shirley Yates ... re
ceiving the award for activities
was Alice Marian Holmes, with
honorable mention to Rosemary
Atkinson, Ruth Grosvenor, and
Ruth Millar ... the girls winning
the highest awards received en
graved silver bracelets, while the
girls with honorable mention re
ceived Talisman roses . . .
New officers elected last night
to head Sigma Alpha Mu for the
coming year are Irvm Yaffe,
prior; Sidney Kalin, exchequer;
Norman Harris, recorder; Morton
Margolin, historian; and Norman
Bordy, assistant exchequer.
Group to select new
members today at 5
Selection of new members in
tryouts, and practice on the newly
prescribed form of drill which
probably will be used at Nebraska
next fall will comprise the Persh
ing Rifles meeting at 5 o'clock
this afternoon.
Giving students the opportunity
to learn the 12 man squad rou
tines in advance of regular class
Instruction and thus offering them
better chances for non-commissioned
officer ranking next fall,
the training will be especially
beneficial to freshmen interested
in military promotion.
The Pershing Rifles office prom
ises that all men taken into the
organization this spring will be in
itiated as soon as school takes up
next fall. Applicants should report
to the company office on the sec
ond floor of Nebraska hall prior
to the tryouts.

The master violinist was first
presented to the radio audience
of America by Rudy Vallee and
since that time has held many ra
dio contracts. Well known in ra
dio, he has also achieved fame on
the legitimate stage and in mov
ing pictures.
l hi Lambda Upsilon, honorary
chemical society, members will
meet for their regular monthly
business meeting this evening at
7:15 p. m. in Avery 102. There will
be an initiation of associate mem
bers and an election of officers
of next year. Plans are to be made
for the picnic that will be held
May 13.
