ANOTHER GREAT TREK ACROSS
the country, but this time it's not
in a covered wnjuon; it's via train or car.
It's not tfoing to take a month to cross
the prairie, either, for if the special train
comes through on schedule, loyal Cor;
huskers should arrive in Kansas in half
a day. The purpose of the wholesale mi
gration is, however, the same the con
quering of western lands, and the thing
that spurs our team on to victory more
than anything else is wholehearted sup
port from the student bodv.-So when we
go to Kansas, let's really get going! Let's make Nebraska's
chant just as inspiring as Kansas State's, and when the Corn-
husker rings across the field, let's make it ring, not whisper.

Opinion on Campus Decrees
University Needs New Song
"We need a new song!" This was 'the answer given by
every person approached on the question of university songs
by representatives of the Daily Xebvaskan. It was a unanimous
decision rendered by everyone from the greenhouse keeper to
two small colored grade school boys who were caught and ques
tioned as iney crossea me campus. o-
"We all know the Nebraska songs;
we all sing themr and we're all
getting mighty tired of them," said
the Lincolnites. "We need a new
song. A peppy, marching song,
with short words and a catchy
tune" they further insist.
Will the song contest the Inno
cents and Mortar Boards are
sponsoring with the help of the
Daily Nebraskan bring forth the
needed song? Perhaps. Students
stopped in the streets and on the
campus disagreed as to this.
"I don't see why they shouldn't"
said Martha Caha, sophomore. "A
contest like this ought to interest
the students, and if enough write
songs, there's bound to be a good
one written."
"I did not know a contest was
going on." said Paul Sprout, also
a sophomore, pausing on his way
home to dinner to consider the
matter. "The songs we have sound
o. K. to me anyway."
Most of the faculty and all of
the men who work around the
campus lawn know the music to
the Nebraska songs, even If they
do not know the words. Lincoln
high boys and girls without ex
ception know both. Why? They
learn ' them in music classes in
school.
The song contest continues: En
tries pour In. But there is always
room at the top, and the Daily
Nebraskan promises that no entry
will be overlooked. Who is going
to write the first song? Who will
win the $20.

Tri Delts Defeat Thetas in
Soccer-Baseball Tourney
Thursday.
Play in the Women's intramural
soccer-baseball tournament was
resumed Thursday on the field
east of Social Science when Ray
mond Hall played the Ag Boarding
club and the Tri Delts met Kappa
Alpha Theta. The Tri Delts de
feated the Thetas 5 to 3 after a
closely contested match. Raymond
Hall was forced to default to the
Ag club because of lack of play
ers. Raymond Hall won by making
a 20 to their opponents 6. Bonnie
Spangaard's ease in knocking
home runs was largely responsi
ble for the final outcome. Albina
Nemcova, a Czechoslovakian ex
change student, from Raymond
Hall rewarded the last-minute
coaching of her teammates by
bringing in a score.
