Number of repledges also ex ceeded last year's total. Two hun dred men were listed as holdover pledges compared with 186 in 1934. Jack Fischer, Interfraternity Council president, was enthusias tic over the showing made by all fraternities with the filing fee in effect. "This year," he pointed out, "less than 450 cards were filed for rush dates, which means that all but 16 percent of those rushed were pledged. In previous years, when from 1,000 to 1,200 men were rushed with even a smaller num ber pledging, needless effort and money were spent by both the Greek societies in rushing and the council offices in filing and check ing names." That the system would be made a permanent feature was indicated by several council members and fraternity leaders.
