C. camp at Fort Crook last week went 146 univer sity iunior cadet officers, second lieutenants in the Reserve Offi cers' Training Corps. These men will remain in camp for drill train- ine: until July 20. Army officers, detailed as in structors at the university who will be in charge of the men are Maj. C. E. Speer, Maj. J. P. Hut Service Within One Block ' Keim Offers Course in Weed and Crops Study An extension course in identifi cation of weeds and crop plants, giving two hours credit, is being offered this summer by Dr. F. D. Keim, chairman of the department of agronomy at the university. This course, says Doctor Keim, is designed to acquaint people with the various weeds, and some of the more common grasses and le gumes that are used in lawns and pastures. Meeting first on Tuesday eve ning, June 18 at 7 o'clock, the class will be held twice a week, with fiel dtrips at those times. Students will have the opportunity to make mounts of both seeds and plants. Registration should be made through the extension division. Hitchcock Scholarship in Journalism Offered Again The Gilbert M. Hitchcock schol arship of $1,000 to the Columbia university graduate school of jour nalism will be renewed for next year, according to an announce ment by Carl W. Ackerman, dean of the school. Graduates of a Ne braska college or university, or residents of Nebraska who are graduates of other schools are eli gible. Applications can be filed at any time before Sept. 1. This schol arship is given in memory of the late editor and publisher of the Omaha World-Herald. Pharmacy Firm Awards.,. Fellowship to Miss Brew Marjorie Brew of Cheney has been granted a fellowship for the summer at the university by Ab bott Laboratories of North Chi cago. Miss Brew held a scholarship from the same company during the regular school year. She will con tinue her study and research on the coating of enteric tablets, un der the direction of F. S. Bukey, assistant professor of pharmacy &t the university. Students Visit Central With Free Food Coupons University summer students have been tearing up last week's Nebraskan to take the 15 cent free coupons to the Central Cafe for food and fountain service. The Cafe made what it called a "new deal to students and faculty" whereby they merely took the coupon and exchanged it for res taurant merchandise. Carl von Brandenfels, manager of the Central, says the offer will be open until midnight of June 21. The Cafe is at 1325 P street, and is well known to Lincoln people.
