Announce Engagement.
The engagement of Claudine
Ackerlund, to Harold Whitmer,
Sigma Nu, also from Fremont, was
announced Monday evening when
Mr. Whitmer passed the cigars at
the Sigma xnu nouse. miss ACKer
lund is teaching in Omaha and Mr
Whitmer is a junior in arts and
science college.

Saturday night the members of
Delta Chi will entertain at a house

Chains Herald Queen.
The ivy and daisy chains, which
herald the approach of the May
Queen, start from Grant Memorial
hall at 10:30, after the intei fra
ternity sing and ivy day oration
have been finished. All senior wo
men are urged to dress in white
and join in carrying the ivy chain.
Two junior, sophomore and fresh
man girls from each sorority have
been chosen to carry the daisy
chain.
Led by masked Mortar Board,
the May Queen procession will
leave Pharmacy hall at 10:45. On
arriving at the throne, the maid of
honor will crown the May Queen
with a wreath of ivy. The ivy day
poet will then read her poem, fol
lowing which the junior and senior
class presidents will preserve the
tradition of planting the ivy. At
11:15, a recessional will conclude
the May Queen ceremonies.
A brief service in honor of Prof.
Fossler will be held at 11:30 under
the direction of Dr. Fling.
Afternoon events will include
the intersorority sing, masquing of
new Mortar Boards and tapping of
next year's Innocents.
The Ivy Day party, sponsored
for the first time last year by the
Innocents and Mortar Boards, will
not be continued this year, Jack
Thompson, president of the Inno
cents, stated.

Badminton Tournament Set
To Begin Wednesday
Afternoon.
In the badminton tournament on
Wednesday, May 3, Jean Halbersle-
ben and Edna Mae Paulson, Alpha
Xi Delta, are scheduled to com
pete with Harriet Woods and Vern
Frue, Sigma Kappa. Irma Wyrens
and Dorothy Davis, Delta Delta
Delta, will play Hallene Haxthau
sen and Ethel Rohrer, Alpha Chi
Omega. Dorothy Bollard and
Frances Scudder, K-B-B, are to be
the opponents of Mary Stander
and Loa Stroddecker, Phi Omega
Pi. Because of the Ivy Day ac
tivities, no games have been sched
uled for Thursday and Friday.
The intramural baseball matches
for Wednesday are Raymond Hall
vs. Kappa Alpha Theta and Sigma
Eta Chi vs. Phi Mu. Furthe
games will be scheduled for May 8.
All the archery matches are to
be shot on the outdoor range on
the mall south of Andrews Hall.
