Win Gives Huskers Chance
At Big Six Conference

Following' a poorly played first
period the Nebraska cagers came
back after (the intermission a re
juvenated five and proceeded to
subject the Iowa State team to a
25 to 16 defeat
Monday night
on the Coliseum
court. This win
gives the Hus
kers an even
500 percentage
in the Big Six
cage race and
means that the
Brownemen are
still in the
money as far as
champions hip
contention goes.
It was the third
defeat for the
Cyclones and
virtually puts

erine: the entire field of invest
ments and written by Prof. John
E. Kirshman, instructor of finance
has just come from the press and is
ready for distribution, according
to word received by Mr. Kirsh
man.
The general conception and or
ganization which, in the earue
edition, made this pioneer text
popular, has largely been retained
in the second edition, otnerwise
the book has been almost entirely
rewritten to cover the post-war
changes in economic and political
conditions.
The altered status of production
international trade, finance, and
the new distribution of gold, us
well as important changes in tax
ation and tariffs, are among the
subjects now given analysis in the
rewritten text.
Noteworthy are the following
features of the new edition: de
tailed sectional headings thruout;
selected references at the end of
each chapter, a new chapter on in
terest and profits, greater em
phasis on income and an element
of credit; and new chapters on
bank stocks, insurance stocks, in
vestment trusts, electric light and
power companies, gas securities,
street railways, telephones, tele
graphs, water companies, business
fluctuations and others.

them out of consideration for pen
nant chances.
At the halfway mark the count
was 8 to 7 Nebraska, the Scarlet
coming from behind a 7 to 4 lead
of the visitors in the last two min
utes, Hokuf sinking a couple of
quick scores. The big guard was
the individual star of the tilt and
in the first period made seven of
the eight points rung up by the
home team. He made a shot from
the foul line in the first minute of
play but from then until halftime
proceedings were slow, both teams
presenting sloppy offenses, and the
passing being a bit wild.
Coming back on the floor after
the rest period Henrion, Bo.swell,
Hokuf, and Mason scored in quick
succession before three minutes of
play were gone to make the score
16 to 9, Hood, Ames guard, having
stowed away a pair of free throws
in the meantime. Boswell and Ho
kuf scored on dribble-ins, the for
mer scoring a couple of those as
well as a shot from the foul circle
to complete the field goal count
ing as far as the Huskers were
concerned.
Ludwig, veteran Iowa State for
ward, was going hot for the
Menzemen in the final half, caging
a trio of floor shots, to put himself
in the loading scoring pesition
among the visitors.
Steve Hokuf was the outstand
ing player on the floor all evening,
taking the ball off the bankboard
in good fashion, sinking five nifty
field shots, and playing an out
standing floor gHmo. His thirteen
points put him out in front in the
scoring column, and Bo.swell tied
witli Ludwig for second honor.'?
with six tallies. Mention also
played a topnotch game for Xo
Liaka, as did Anderson and Hood
for Die Cyclones.
