Closing their sixteen weeks run
in Lincoln with a revival of "St.
Elmo," members of the Liberty
Stock Co. Monday night enter
tained with a most effective per
formance.
Gladvs Griswold in the part of
Edna Earl, and E. H. Fitzgibbons
playing opposite her in the title
role were especially fincj in this
Grace Hayward dramatization of
Augusta Evans' novel. Dressed up
in modernized version, the drama
gave convincing glimpses of its old
appeal, concerned as it is with the
complexities of a man's soul.
How St. Elmo's personality is
reveited into human channels
after a lapse of twenty years
makes a moving story, and mem
bers of the Liberty ast add
greatly to the presentation with
their ready characterizations. An
especial treat is in store ioi mc
admirers of Elton Hackett, who
furnishes the comic element as
Willis Wood, "from Chattanoogie.
