Musicians front high schools
throughout the state will compete
in the state high school contest to
begin today. The music contest
will open High School week, which,
end next week end with three ath
letic tournament..
Featuring next week' program
Is the, state high school track meet
to take place at Memorial stadium.
In addition there will be a state
tennis meet and a golf tournament.
Fifty-three entrie have been re
ceived for the track meet, nine for
the tennis meet and seven for the
golf tournament.

Chancellor Discusses Plans
For Improvement of
University Plant
Program of the University of Ne
braska for the next two years was
outlined by Chancellor E. A. Bur
nett at the meeting of the Lions
club yesterday. He spoke in place
of Coach Bible, who wa scheduled
to give the talk. Legislative action,
he said, left the I'nlverslty "pre
pared for plant expansion rather
than internal improvement.
Dormitories to be built will be
used for freshman women, with the
ultimate plan of requiring fresh
man women to live in dormitories.
The repeats and the capltol com
mission will meet Saturday to plan
for the Jnlnt heating plant autbor
laei by the legislature. Arrange
ments will be made with the city

Get $5 Prizes
Winners of the first prize for the
best health poster and for the' best
health essay entered by university
students of this campus hare been
announced. Verna Brlnley won the
prise of f 5 for the rent essay, and
Melvln Hoffman was awarded the
prize for the poster.
The contest was held to interest
Ktudents in the health problems,
to get some of their Idea on this
subject, sponsored hy the depart
ment of physical education for wo
men. Mabel Iee, Helen Morehead,
Keretln Thorln, and Mary Olsen
judged the paper and posters
entered.
Any subject pertaining to men
tal and physVcil health were ac
cepted In the contest. Essay were
submitted by all freshmen English
classes. From the essay received
the three chosen a the best were;
first, by Verna Brlnley called
"Elizabeth and Martha"; the second
by Evelyn McBride, and third by
Lyda Burry. The winning poster
