Gloomy Forecast
Recalling the fact that Missouri
more than doubled the score a few
weeks back at Columbia and witnes
sing a poor exhibition of the basket
art last night, Coach Black assumed
a gloomy attitude toward Nebraska's
prospects Saturday evening. A pro
longed drill with the guard candi
dates will be on the schedule for to
day's practice as the basket mentor
believes they were too lax during
the workout with the freshmen.
Bleachers are in place, goals es
tablished at each end of the court,
and everything dn readiness for the
reception of Missouri, 8 o'clock Sat
urday evening. The Coliseum doors
will be open at 7 o'clock for early
basket fans.

the yearling game. Judging from the
performances Thursday afternoon,
"Jug" Brown, "Dutch" Witte, for
wards; Captain Tom Elliott, center;
and Elmer Holm, "Army" Arm
strong, guards, should get the open
ing call at the Missou tilt Saturday.
Harvey Grace, Adolph Lewandowskl
and Carl Olson have been turning dn
some nice work the past few prac
tices and with Othmer and Krall will
probably see active service.
Prospects for the next year's cage
quintet look especially glowing at
this premature time. Sawyer, Mor
rison, Fisher, and Jensen are the
cream of the yearling forwards and
Milhollin and Elliott have great
promise as future Varsity guards.
Glen' Milhollin played a good run
ning guard game against the Varsity
squad in the scrimmage yesterday.
Light Drill Today
Another encounter with a Valley
fee takes place at the Coliseum next
Monday evening. The Washington
Bears from St Louis journey here
to play a return engagement with
the Cornhusker hoopsters. They
pulled out a one point victory over
the Nebraskans in their last encoun
ter, so Monday's game promises
plenty of action between the two
closely matched teams.
Coach Black is planning on taper
ing off scrimmage this afternoon and
will spend the day on offensive tactics
and a special training of the guards.
.Nebraska's home schedule for this
year follows:
Jan. 7 Missouri.
Jan. 9 Washington.
Jan. 21 KansaB Aggies.
Jan. . 28 Iowa State.
Feb. 4 Oklahoma Aggies.
Feb. 14 Drake.
Feb. 24 Kansas.
Feb. 25 Oklahoma.
Feb. 28 Grinnell.
Coaches Vote to Re
vert to 1926 Rulings
(Continued from Page 1)
As a result of the demand of the
coaches for greater representation
on the rules committee for 1928, E.
K. Hall, chairman of the committee,
invited the association to appoint
three observers to sit with the rule
makers at the next meeting.
The two rules affecting the fum
bled punt and lateral pass were the
only grave changes made.
Speaking of parties when's your
formal? It's about time to be think
ing about that spring party too. It
is hard to really plan one of those
things successfully, that is. How
are you all social committees coming
with your plans? Need any assist
ance? And favors every kind in
the world. Colorful, charming, use
ful, dainty, for your formal a big
selection of attractive favors in any
desired quantity, with or without
crest. Very, very nifty, no end of
clever stuff like that for any party
and day. Whatever you need, see
George Bros., they can fix you up.

America Discovered for $7200
Old records show that the cost of Columbus' first
expedition to America amounted, in modern exchange,
to only $7200. To finance Columbus, Isabella,
Queen of Spain, offered to pawn her jewels. Today
word comes from Spain indicating that a twentieth
century importation from the new world is fast effect
ing a sufficient saving to ransom many royal jewels.
The Spanish Northern Railway reports that the
American equipment with which in 1924 the railroad
electrified a mountainous section of its lines from Ujo
to Paj ares has accomplished the following economies:'
1. A 55 saving in the cost of power.
2. A reduction of 40 in the number of engine miles for
the same traffic handled.
3. A saving of 73 in the cost of repairs and upkeep
for locomotives.
4. A saving of 63 in crew expenses.
5. A reduction of 31 in the cost of moving a ton
kilometer of freight.
In every part of the world, electricity has replaced
less efficient methods and is saving sums far
greater than the ransom of a queen's jewels. You
will always find it an important advantage in your
work and in your home,
The substations, overhead
equipment for the complete
installation, and sis of the
twelve locomotives for thia
particularly difficult and
uccessful electrification
were furnished by the Gen
eral Electric Company. Gen
eral Electric quality has
attained universal recog
nition; the world over, you
will find the G-E monogram
on apparatus that is giving
outstanding service.
