along. You know how mother favors
love stories. Well, the 0rpheum
has one of the most beautiful love
stories ever enacted In human his
tory, portrayed in the . picture
"When A Man Loves."
Do you remember the storv that
grandmother used to tell us? The
story of a certain Fabien and Manon
and how they loved with a love that
smouldered white hot within their
hearts? How this glorious love
overcame all obstacles? How they
were rudely snatched out of the ecs
tacy of that beautiful love and
placed on that ship of horrors? Do
you remember, sister, how breath
lessly we use dto sit and listen to
that story again and again?
It is more impressive then ever
on the screen. Pretty Dolores Cos-
tello and that genius, Barrymore,
certainly do a wonderful niece of
work. And the settings are simply
gorgeous. You remember, it is a
story of thei times of Louis XV of
France. The producers paid $24,
000 to the French government, for
the use of twenry-four orisrinal cos
tumes of those times, obtained from
the French State Museum. I ima
gine, Sis, that you will get as much
thrill out of those costumes as you

Get your slicker before the dealer's

will from the love scenes. Anyhow,
I know that you will enjoy the pic
ture, for its the kind of a picture
that Will s-ive A pirl a thrill. And
the charming Dolores, more beauti-
tul than ever, vill causei a fneling of
cold fish scales runnine un and
down the spine, of more than one
boy, too.
In case you can coax Dad to cone;
we'll send him to the Lincoln. The
stage show there is worth the orice
of admission. I believe I wrote and
told you of the two colored tap danc
ers I saw in St. Louis. Well they're
here this week and their feet are just
as light as ever. .
There's another team, a bov and a
girl, that go over big. While he
keeps you lauehine. she kicks his
head off, I mean she tries it, but
she always kicks too high. She should
never be cold when she is in the par
lor all alone, for she can wrap her
legs around herself.
Oh, yes three rrirls from Missouri
and one of them is red headed. You
know how partial I am to red hair,
especially when its owner can roll
her eyes and dance. Her, partners
sing and as a whole their little re
vue is quite pleasing.
The orchestra and or?an Dlav sev
eral unusually delightful selections.
The feature nlavs Sallv O'Neil in
her most important film role. Miss
O'Neil is a little Irish-Jewish shop
girl with an ambition to become a
grand opera singer. Discharged
from the department store, she
meets a young man of doubtful
character in fact a very crooked
crook. Through hs love for . the
erirl he is regenerated and it is not
until after the heroine's adventure
on the stage and in society that she
spurns the hand of a rich man to wed
the now regenerated pickpocket.
Owen Moore plays the role of the
crook.
If you could get here Friday eve
ning, Saturday we have Ziegfield
Follies and they've been sold out for
a week already, I would have you
see "The Fool" at the Liberty. You
know huw enthused I was about
"The Fool" when I wrote you about
the original production. I am proud
to say that a. home talent cast does
the play no injustice. In fact the
work of all the players must be high
ly commended, especially the acting
of Mr. McFarlane in the leading
role. He is the new leading man I
was telling you about some time ago.
He is certainly winning his Lincoln
audiences. You'll like Miss Cooper,
too. She is a very sweet and talent
ed little actress.
"The Fool" is not a moral play,
but it is a fearless, heart gripping
story that just naturally makes you
stop and think. It is the story of a
young minister whose ideas are de
cidedly at variance with those of
other churchmen. There is a mine
strike and all that sort of thing be
fore the plot is finally smoothed
over.
We thank you Mr. Watkin, for an
other evening of splendid entertain-1
ment.
Well Sis I'll see you Saturday
morning at the depot.
Your loving brother, AL

will come through as soon as the
workers do so, he explained.
Dinners similar to the one last
night will be held tonight and Wed
nesday evening, for the purpose of
checking results and issuing cards
to the workers. Soliciting will be
carried on throughout the three days
of the campaign. Every student will
be personally approached by one of
the 130 workers sometime during the
drive, the committee declares.
The total budget of this organi
zation is $5,000, of which the stu
dents are asked to contribute only
$1,250. Each of the 130 workers are
expected to turn in about $10,000.
The budget of this organization
spends about $2 per student in the
University of Nebraska, explained C.
D. Hayes, general secretary. This is
Hayes, general secretary. This is
about two dollars less than the av
erage amount spent in a school of
this size. The budget is cut down by
cutting down general running ex
penses, explained Mr. Hayes.
