BRACELIN WILL
ADDRESS ALUMNI
(Continued from Page One )
as a brilliant speaker, thinker, schol
ar, lawyer, and a broad-minded man
of affairs. What he will have tn v
on the subject of "The building of a
great University" will be well worth
the attention of not only the alumni
but of the people of the entire state,
it is felt
Cornhusker alumni and nthr
friends of Bracelen who knew him
while he was a student in the univer.
sity will remember him as a champion
debater. Members of the faenltv
will remember him as a very thorough
student. The late Professor M. M.
Fogg often referred to him as one
of the keenest speakers and debaters
he had ever known.
Harold Holtz, secretary of the
alumni association, upon receiving
Bracelen's acceptance, said, "That is
the best news wo have had in many a
day. Bracelen is an outstanding
speaker, a rare scholar, and one of
the nation's ereatest lawyers. Hi
coming will please the alumni of the
university.
The Alumni luncheon, following
which Bracelen will speak, is to be
held in the Student Activities build
ing at the Agricultural colletre Satur
day jioon, May 28.
FIRST TRACK MEET
HELD IN CRETE
(Continued from Page One.)
"Red" Layton, "Mud" Gardner, and
Captain Ed Allen running the medley
relay race captured first honors for
the Cornhusker school.
The longrt trip of the season
came on March IS, when Coach
Schulte took his tracksters to the
coast to meet the strong California
Bears, holder of the 1921 and 1922
intercollegiate titles. The first lap
of the Cornhusker itinery brought the
Nebraska team to Kansas City for
the Missouri .Valley indoor meet,
where they won second place. One
world's record was tied by Lloyd,
Husker sprinter, when he stepped off
the 50-yard dash in five and two-fifth
seconds, with Noble, of Nebraska,
finishing a close second. Captain
"Ed" Allen set a new valley record
for the mile and "Mud" Gardner
smashed his own record in the 880
yard run.
On April 7 Nebraska went up
against the California Bears and
were defeated 75 to 56. Inability to
score in the field events caused the
downfall of Schulte's track team. In
the second meet after the return
from the coast, Nebraska piled up a
score of 83 to 48 on the Kansas team
in a dual meet. Ten firsts and a tie
for a eleventh was the record in the
Kansas-Nebraska meet. Then the
last dual meet of the season with the
Haskell Indians resulted in a decisive
win for Nebraska.
The personnel of the team was as
follows: Captain "Ed" Allen, Maurice
Gardner, Robert Weir, Jacob Cohen,
Monroe Gleason, Orris Hatch, Dean
Higgins, Louis Trexler, Alfred Parks,
Marvin Layton, Cecil Hartraan, How
ard Turner, Everett Crites. The
cross country team was Paul Zim
merman, Hyde, Jimmie Lewis, Jacob
Schultz, and Ed Dickson.

to Barnes in the semi-finals. The
Sooner star found difficulty in ex
ecuting his lobs and passing shots,
partially due to the brisk wind. The
lanky Oklahoma man made quick
work of Royer 6-0, 6-3. Coggeshall
experienced little opposition in his
semi-finals match winning 7-5, 6-1
