There are other harbors around the island, but ii! the weather look stormy, the ship makes for the open seas rather than to stay in these treacherous hafcuvsi where many 0 Bhip has sunk. The weather was quiet when we mude the trip and 1 was very glad of it." Miss Gray taya that tho flay "Rain," which was such a huge suc cess on the stage, was lid in Pago Pago, Samoa. She found the very hotel described in the play, although the hotels .are few and far between in Samoa. There are no real Euro pean hotels in Samoa, nor do they have any of the modern feature found in America, except in the homes of the naval officers. Fiji Island Not So Interesting "The Fiji Islands are not so in- "Al.o New and Comedy future. BABICH and tha ORCHESTRA 5HUW3 ! I Honey For Sale New honey in the comodor extracted $2 gallon. "The fijians Ju.vo many old and pecu?iar cui'tom that they still continue to practice. They with stand the pain of tattooing so that they may look beautiful, and they put lime in their hair to bleach it a golden red. This lime also kills the insects, that have a habit of resting in tho native's ha'r.'' "I saw two Fiji Island chiefs walk ing down the street, and judging from their appearance, they must have been members of the nobility. They both carried canes, walked with a swagger, and wor a skirt made of pure white cloth. Tho upper part of the costume was Uixtinctly European and their feet were bare. Contrary to the general belief, the Fijis are a very clean race." From the Fiji Islands Miss Cray went to Sidney, Australia. "I was surprised to learn that Sidney has a population of over a million," she declared. "Australia contains as many square miles as doer? the United States, but the total population is only ten million." Sidney Is On Beautiful Site In describing Sidney she said that the buildings are not as beautiful as those of an American city of the same size, although the city is laid out on a beautiful site. There are many beaches only a Bhort distance from the center of Sidney, and many people make their home in the sub urbs built up on the beaches. The Wrigley Chewing Gum Company, the Swift Company, and several automo bile companies have factories in Aus tralia. The price of cars there is al most double the price we pay in America and gasoline is also very high. "The University of Sidney has several old buildings of Gothic archi tecture," she continued, "and the museum was especially interesting to me. It contains many pictures by old English masters. The College of Agriculture is very diiferent from the Nebraska College of Agriculture. They have a separate college there) for each subject.' "I became very tired of tea while in Sidney. The middle clnsu of Aus tralians have tea served eight times a day, while the very wealthy class of Australians have whiRkny instead of tea." Sidney Amusements Enjoyable "I enjoyed the amusements in Sid ney very much. I saw Guy Bates Post, Pavlova, and a motion picture show during my stay there. I was very much amused when attending the movies there for tho Australians wear evening dress to the Bhows." The best part of tho trip is in meeting people, according to Mies Gray. She came back on the same boat that brought Miss Australia over. Miss Australia, by the way, was sadly defeated, for she represented the Australian type and the Ameri cans have a different idea as to beauty. Miss Gray became acquain ted with Miss Australia and learned that she was a college graduate who had worked her way through school. "All in all," she said, "I enjoyed my trip very much and if you ever get a chance to take it, don't hesi tate. It's worth it" With Bebe Daniels' Charles Paddock A Paramout Picture ALL THIS WEEK The Piiture of a Thousand Sensations WILLIAM FOX JbllSJE with a Great Cast Starr in GEORGE O'BRIEN "THE FOURTH ALARM" A Scream with Our Can SHOWS AT 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
