TRACK TBAH TO MEET DRAKE IH FIHAL EYBHT Only Four Days Between ThU And Triangular Event At Kansas WORK FOR CHAMPIONSHIP AU Men In Good Shap Eicupt Heint St Him For Missouri Valley Meet Her May 21 and 22 With only four days elapsed after their triangular meet with Kansas University and Kansas Aggies, the University of Nebraska track and field team will meet Drake at the stadium Wednesday afternoon at 3:30. This will be the last dual meet of the season for the Huskers. This will leave the team a week and a half to put the finishing touch es on for the Missouri Valley meet here May 21st and 22nd. Nebraska took second to Missouri last year af ter winning four consecutive valley championships. Prospects are fine for another championship although the meet promises to be one of the closest yet Competition Not Strong The Kansas schools failed to fur nish as strone competition as ex pected at Manhattan last Friday, es pecially the Kaggies who tiaa iinisn ed second at the valley indoor meet at Ames earlier in the season. Drake didn't show up so well at the indoor meet but has been coming to the front rapidly of late. All the Husker team is in good shape with the exception of Hein. His leg is still bothering him and it is problematical whether he will be r.ble to run Wednesday or not Coach Schulte is going to take no risks of his not being in shape for the valley meet the following week. If Hein's condition is questionable, he will be saved for the valley meet Rain Stops Freshman Meet The rain put a stop to plans for the freshman telegraphic meet which was to have been held all week. As soon as the weather clears up and the track is in shape, however, Coach Schulte will start putting the freshmen through their races. The results are not forwarded until Sat urday night so it is expected that the latter part of the week, the fresh men can set their marks. On account of the rain, the team took light workouts on the track un derneath the stadium Monday night Light workouts are the order again today in preparation for the Drake meet IN THE VALLEY . .iy "Zim" and "Zini BAD WEATHER DELAYS GAUES Four Teams Are Ready For Elimination Rounds; One Contest May Decide TEN YET TO BE PLAYED The rainy weather of the last week has stopped the playing of the interfraternity baseball games. Di rector Gish of the Athletic Depart ment had hoped to start the second round of the tourney by this week at least, but there are still ten contests which remain to be played. Four teams have won their group cham pionship and are ready to start on the elimination round. They Now that the defeated Tiger track team hat reached the Show Me state ... . again, and the press reports iron that school have drifted into the of fice we are caled to thrust this col umn upon our readers again. One breach of ethics may not call for a commeht or a calling down, but two regular occurrences demand a come back. This is our reason for writing. In "A Column of Sport" from the Columbia Missourian of hoth Mav 4 and 6 appear alibis for the defeat of the Missouri team at the hands of the Huskers, and that is too often. To quote: "Item two: The dash men in the 220yard ran on a curved track while they had been practicing on a straight-away. Locke was un doubtedly the pick of the meet, but just as undobutedly, this factor slowed up Missouri s entries. In the first place, the curre of the Husker track is only half a curve In the second place, the Missouri runners who were entered in the 220 yard dash may have been practicing on the straighaway for that race, but unles the Tiger coach is sadly lacking, they have had plenty of ac linn An a curved track, since both Grantello and Smith ran the quarter in the mile relay and in the open 440. Our conclusion is that curve or no curve, the Missourians could never have reached Locke even II Here is their statement "As for Roland Xocke's claim to ... a - - ADA a new world s recora in mo yard dash it is improbable to say the least, that his time will be recog nized by the A. A. U." Thanks to a lot of things, the A. A. U. officials are not governed by what the Columbia Missourian sport writer (who saw the race from sec ond hand information) thinks. The A. A. U. officials who were timing it henoens. are pressing a request for new record, and as they are the governing body, may we forget the loud nays of our southern breth- ern. But to auote once more: "On the other hand Nebraska is going to lose many points that were scored aeainst the Tigers." And our sport critic goes on to win the Missouri Valley outdoor meet for Missouri, just as he had hoped to win the Val ley indoor meet, and the tiusKer- Tiger dual Fortunately foot racing talks, not printers ink, and we simply refer van to the summaries of the Mis souri-Nebraska dual, the Kansas Ag gies-Kansas-Nebraska triangular, the Valley indoor, and the different re lays of the season- Then after you have read these results pick your own winner. There is no doubt but that a great nnnnrtunitv exists for bringing to gether on a basis of common under standing the college men and tne citizenry of the nation through the medium of intersectional athletic contests. Thus through the use of an annual intersectional football game to be included on the schedule of each university, to be played on the home gridiron alternate years, a uni versally recognized principle govern ing intersectional affairs may be ar rived at Extensive Schedule Impractical Due to the impracticalncss of an extensive schedule of intersectional games, it was suggested that only.one game be adopted as the number of intersectional games. The following is a copy of the resolution adopted at the fourth an nual banquet, April 23, 1926, of the New York Association of Western Conference Universities. Whereas, There has been wide spread discussion as to the benefits derived from intersectional contests. Whereas, the public interest in in tersectional contests has been clearly nroven bv such examples as the foot ball games between Michigan-Navy, are HOME COOKED 1 MPAI; I and . a . m rrj A Home Atmospnere g at 1 MRS.
