QUEEN BUTTONS v
MUST BD WORK
Xi Delta, Sophomor Woman' So
ciety, To Sao That Freshmen
Woman Obey Rule.
That all freshmen women must
wear green buttons was the decision
reached at the first meeting of Xi
Delta, sophomore women's society
last Thursday. These buttons may
still be obtained at the hosiery de
partmcnt of Rudge & Guenrel's, 13th
and N street. Every freshman wo
men should be wearing one by Mon
day evening.
Every freshman man expects to
wear his class insignia and every
freshman woman should be proud to
do likewise, is the attitude of Xi
Delta.
Three years ago green buttons ap
peared on the campus, but the wear
ing of them haa not bp en compulsory
until this year. This ruling should
not be accepted as a punishment in
flictcd by upperclassmen, b it rather
as the first opportunity afforded
first year women to acquaint them
selves with their classmates.
Helen Van Gilder, president, pre
sided over ' the meeting. Caroline
Buck was placed in charge of the en
forcemcnt of the wearing of green
buttons, Blanche Allen was appoint
ed chairman of the tea which Xi
Delta will give for all university wo
men, and Kate Goldstein ia to in
vestigate means of raising money.

More than half of the freshmen
registered for military training have
been given physical examinations by
the physicians in cha-ge of the stu
dent health department, according to
Lt Col. Frank F. Jewett, command
ant of cadets. About one thousand
students are enrolled in the first-
year course this term and an effort
will be made to have examinations of
the entire group completed within
the next week.
