Manager .Circulation Manaxer .Circulation Manaxer THE COLLEGE COMIC One of the standing reflections on the intelligence and good taste of American undergraduates is the es teem in which they seem to hold the college comic magazine. There was a time when these pub lications may have been genuinely humorous, but any one who has glanced through one in the last five years knows that that time is no more. Without being unduly harsh, one may say of them that they are now collections of sex jokes, gin jokes, bad puns and worse drawings. Nor is this an indictment which can be made against only part of them, for they are all more or less alike. There is no essential difference be tween those of the East and those of the Middle-West and West The most serious charge which can be made against them is not that they are immoral, but that they are stupid. Most of them try to be very, very naughty and merely succeed in be ing exceedingly tiresome. It is indeed discouraging to know that their popularity does not show the slightest signs of decline. A na tional magazine has been founded which reproduces monthly all that is stupid in these publication, and it is read by thousands. One's sense of humor is often not only an indication of one's character, but also of one's education and intel ligence. The fact that these maga zines have attained the pinnacle of stupidity on which ttiey new stand and that they are tolerated on the campus, might lead the pessimistic to question the efficacy of the edu cation which American colleges give. Student Opinion An Announcement A letter has been received in this office in regard to the policies of the rarious publications on the campus The editorial policy of The Daily Nebraslcan makes its publication im possible unless the name and address of the writer are on file in the office.
