ANOTHER TRACK
RECORD BROKEN
Houderscheldt Maket New
Time for 660-yard Run on
Indoor Track Wednesday.
MANY NEW MARKS ARE
SET DURING LAST WEEK
Another record fell in the Wednes
day workouts for track on the new
indoor track when Houderscheldt of
Columbus set a new record for the
660-ynrd run by completing the dis
tance in one minute, twenty-seven
seconds. This is the third record that
has fallen in the last week. Wirsitf
set a new indoor pole vault mark Sat
urday with a leap of 12 feet, ?. 1-2
inches, while Roberts broke a record
of four days standing when he ran
the 880-yard run in 2 minutes, 2 sec
onds, or 2-5 of a second under the
time set by Beckord Saturday.
With over three hundred men out
for track this spring, the competition
is becoming keener and new materi
al is being found. Records of last
season for the indoor track have been
lowered consistently in all the events
but the shot put and the high jump.
These two indoor events are the
weak points of the Husker team.
Avard Mandary has been doing
some consistent broad jumping thi
spring and seems to be one of the
best logical contenders for this event
when the outdoor season opens up,
Mandary has made a leap of 22 feet,
1 inch, this season and may make the
trip to Urbana.
John Rhodes will enter the all
around championship event which
includes the 75-yard dash, 75-yard
hurdles, 16-pound shot put, pole
vault, high jump, broad jump, and
the half-mile run. Ed Weir is en
tered in both the high and low hur
die races. Roland Locke will run the
75-yard dash and the 300-yard dash,
The only relay team the Huskers
are taking: is the medley team, com
posed of Captain Crites and Pailey
in the 440-yard runs, Beckord in the
880-yard, and James Lewis, running
last, will do the mile. The Huskers
won this event two years ago. In the
pole vault two Huskers will probably
make the trip. Both Gleason and
Wirsig have been doing better than
twelve feet in practice.
Coach Schulte will run the 2-milers
in a time trial at 3:30 today, and
then again at 5 o'clock. These will
be the first trials for the Varsity
distance men in this event this sea
son. Last season's cross-country
men: Zimmerman, Lawson, Ross,
Johnson, Hays, and McCartney are
included in the list of competitors.
UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII An
intercollegiate debate was recently
held here between a team from this
University and one from Oxford Uni
versity of England.
WASHINGTON STATE UNIVER
SITY Students who have been on
the staff of the college paper for five
semesters have been awarded a gold
pin.
GRINNELL COLLEGE Tea was
served to students by the Y. W. C. A.
during examination week as a relief
from the arduous ordeal of finals.
UNIVERSITY OF OREGON The
dormitories have arranged for spe
cial diet tables for girls who are over
weight.
OREGON AGRICULTURAL CQL-
LEGE A course in etiquette is the
latest addition to the curriculum.

ty has expelled a member of the foot
ball team for violation of the rule
against marrying while a student in

Blore and Lundy Are Winners
115 and 158-pound
in
Matches Yesterday.
HUSKER MEET GOPHER
GRAPPLERS THIS WEEK
Richard E. Blore and Albro Lundy
were winners yesterday in the wrest
ling team tryouts in the 115 and 158
pound divisions. Blore had a time
advantage of six and a half minutes
over Hudson, and Lundy bested
Brannigan three minutes and thirty
two seconds in the 158-pound class.
Preliminary tryouts were held in
the 135-pound class. Zimmerman,
McCokey, and Luff wrestled in five-
minute matches. Coach R. G. Clapp
will make the final decision in this
class after further tryouts.
Albro Lundy, 158-pound class, will
wrestle for Nebraska in that division
Saturday against Minnesota in the
dual meet if he is eligible. If Lundy
is not available for the team, Bran
nigan will be entered. Coach Clapp
said yesterday that Highley would
wrestle in the heavyweight and
Brainerd in the 175-pound class if
Lundy can wTestle in the 158-pound
division. If he can not enter, Brain
erd and Highley will change places.
Nebraska should beat Minnesota
Saturday according to a comparative
record of the two teams against Iowa
Minnesota was defeated by Iowa two
weeks ago in a dual meet, in which
Iowa gained four falls, and one de
cision. The Iowa victory over Ne
braska was made by four decisions
and two falls, and the score was not
as large as against Mjnnesota.
Minnesota has been beaten every
year in the past by Nebraska except
last year when the Gophers won by
a narrow margin.
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
Law students are renuired to try
two cases a year, one before a judge
and one before a jury. In the latter
case, the jury is made up of freshmen.
