Fraternity Teams Will Com
pete in Annual Meet
This Week.
GUNMEN WILL SHOOT
ALL FOUR POSITIONS
Eleven teams have entered in the
annual interfraternity rifle match to
be held this week. The winners of
first and second places will be award
ed a skin as a trophy. Those teams
which are not entered as yet may do
so any time, either to Captain Eprgers
on the range, or Sargent French in
the ofice of Major Erickson. All
four positions will be fired, and the
complete score must be finished by
Saturday.
The four positions: prone, sitting,
kneeling, and standing, will be fired.
Each man will be allowed a number
of sighting shots but no practice will
be allowed this week. The scons
must be completed by Saturday. Each
team will be composed of five men.
Last year there were nineteen
teams entered in the match with the
Thi Delta Chi team coming out win
ner. Their score was fifteen points
above the second place score, being
a total of 806 points. Phi Gamma
Delta and Kappa Fsi tied for secon
rtlace with a grand total of 79
points. Alpha Sigma Phi placed
fourth with a total of 778.

There is going to be a lot of action
when the Kansas Jayhawks meet the
Cornhuskers at Lincoln January 31
in a cage battle that looms up as one
of the stellar attractions of the home
schedule. Already the conference
race looks like a nip-and-tuck affair.

less Cornhusker form falls off a lot
the Kansas-Nebraska games will be
the deciding factors in the champion
ship battle.
Kansas is showing some of its form
of the last two years when the Jay-
hawks finished on top of the scuffle.
Her defense, however, seemed to fall
down in the Grinnell game last Thurs
day. The Pioneers scored twenty
six points against the Lawrence crew,
more than any team counted against
the champions of 1924. If there
is a weak spot in that defense the
Huskers can be counted upon to find
it and pound on it The 1925 quin
tet has proved itself ready to take ad
vantage of every opportunity and to
make the most of every error.

Washington University is bidding
high for a football coach for the 1925
season. The Piker's inability to land
a Missouri Valley championship has
led Washington authorities to look
far and wide for a chief mentor. First
it was Bill Roper, successful Prince
ton coach, who was whispered to be
the Washington tutor. They were
unable to land him. Now Lud Wray,
head line coach at the University of
Pennsylvania, has just declined an
offer to coach at Washington next
year.
The Missouri Valley ruling that
the football coach must remain at
the school all year has stood in the
way both times that Washington has
had a chance to land a coach. The
Eastern men seem to desire the nine
months of the year they are not
coaching for their own purposes,
while the Valley ruling specifies that
a head coach must remain at the in
stitution during all of the college
year.
Dr. R. G. Clapp, . wrestling
coach, is gaining a name for himself
and Nebraska in the collegiate wrest
ling world. His proficiency as a
wrestling tutor has been reflected
in the character of his teams and is
recognized all over the country. Dr.
Clapp was recently placed on the
national committee of the National
Intercollegiate Wrestling Associa
tion. There are only three members
on this committee, the others being
Peterson of Columbia and Rieter of
Lehigh. Last year Dr. Clapp held a
position on the advisory committee
of this association.
In the Kansas Aggie game one
player missed sixteen free throws
alone, and another bagged three out
of nine. As long as the opposing
teams give the Nebraskans chances

Coach Bill Kline last night put
the Varsity through a strenuous
free-throw drill. The free-throw
proposition was found to have been
hnrtlw neclected on the southern trip
last week and Coach Kline is per
fecting that branch of the game
along with the regular work.
